What issues has he had? Other than a/c compressors on the 16-17 models the new civics have been rock solid from what I've seen come through my location.

If it helps there is no service bulletin for this concern and I haven't seen a similar issue on those, I'm at a fairly high volume dealer so usually if its a common issue we've seen it before. I wouldn't go aftermarket, I would find another dealership and get some fresh eyes on the issue. They should be able to reach out to tech-line for more assistance if they can't get it nailed down.
Honda hasnt been able to build an AC system that doesnt grenade compressors since forever. They have also been equally bad at V6 automatic transmissions.

Their 4 cylinder stuff has typically always been solid. Apparently overall quality has fallen off a cliff.

For the record. Ive been writing service for honda for about 2 years now and ive never seen a blend door issue. We do a/c condensers all the time but its warrantied so not a big deal. And a/c compressors never fail on new body style civics. I have done 3 or 4 compressors on brand new HR-Vs right off the transport truck.

Go and get a thermometer and stick it in the vents and then you can get actual readings and if they are really that far off then take it back to the dealer. Usually the center stack is the hottest and the branches are going to be slightly cooler.

Kinda like Ford...can’t build/source a compressor worth a shit...they seem to self destruct in no time on S197, S550 mustangs. Mine died after 30K miles, buddies new S550 did it after a few months.. I honestly think that PITA to put on stretchy belt is part of the problem, so I added the tensioner kit when I replaced mine. I hate dealership warranty work, so I did it myself on my own dime.

Interesting that you mention that. My 2011 GT500 popped its AC evaporator core a few weeks before I moved from CA to AZ. It was covered by the godsend of a Carmax extended warranty, but to say I was shocked would be an understatement. I actually moved to AZ and left the car at the Ford dealer getting repaired. .... Im thinking I may need to invest in an AC compressor or two for when the warranty is up.

I was surprised too, reading the mustang fb groups it became apparent that it’s fairly common too.

Anything coyote powered from Ford automatically means the compressors die early. They destroy the bearings in them.

Funny thing is.. my 2v GT had a shot AC Clutch. Put a new clutch on it, gave it a small shot of freon, and it's been fine. New cars you can't do that with, they usually kill the compressor with the clutch.

FWIW it appeared to just be my clutch that was annihilated. However it’s same effort to pull that ****er, so I put a new one in.

For the past 10 years of so Honda has been utter complete crap but some how they still have a good name. A huge portion of their cars with "ECO mode" have to have their engines rebuilt at 50-75K miles. This was a nightmare fight we had with our Odyssey and it being covered under warranty (had to take to multiple dealers before it was partially fixed under warranty). The electrical issues these cars have is like no other. Thinking all the issues we have was just "A lemon car" but after doing research every issue we had was a very common issue that many others had.

Every manufacture has their set of issues, honda is no exception, but work for ford and honda back to back and get back to me with quality concerns. There was an issue with the rings on V6 cars in the early 2010s, they did a warranty extension to correct that that lasted for 8 years unlimited mileage. We typically start to see issues around 100k.

V6 automatics really haven't been an issue since the mid 2000s, anything newer than that has been pretty solid. We get several torque converter judder cars on the 6AT but its cured with a software update to maintain fluid temps and if people were changing their fluid when they should be it would be a non-issue in the first place honestly.

I've always said the most basic hondas are typically the most reliable. The 4 cylinder cars especially the low tech trim levels are solid. My wifes 15 civic has been a dream over 120K miles, still on original brakes too.

That's wild you haven't seen compressor issues on the new civics yet. Back in the summer I was replacing 1-2 compressors a week on 16-17 civics due to them leaking. A fair share of condensors as well.

Im glad they got their shit together on the V6 ATs. I cut my teeth in the industry at a Honda dealership in Lisle, IL. Was there for a year and a half (2005-2006) and it seemed like every tech there did a trans a day. I saw 1 guy get so good he had em in and out running in about 2 and a half hours. Could have been faster than that.

Went back and spoke to the service manager and they took a look at everything again and said they couldn’t find an issue. Talked with the dealership manager to see if the new civic sports were having the same issues so he grabbed a few sets of keys and we went out to the parking lot. 3 out of 5 cars had the same issue as mine leading us to believe its some defect straight out of the manufacturing plant. He’s going to call around and let me know if anything can be done in a couple of days

In all honesty losing your shit isn’t going solve anything, other then get you escorted off the lot. Frustrating as it is I’d see if the manager can find a remedy. The fact several new cars are doing it means he’s going to have to engage someone at Honda, hopefully they have an answer.

OP said he has credit issues.

what type of financing agreement are you in? Is it buy here pay here?

please provide a VIN and let’s see if this car has spent anytime under water or see if it’s been hit hard.

That's a reasonable response.

The sales manager at the Ford dealership, after telling him my truck was drinking oil, said "Oh Yea, those 5.0s are guzzling oil down *slurp noises* they're just eating it up, yum".

I'd say your experience was better.

Yep. Then he proceeded to offer 0 help over the truck.

We traded it in on the Honda. Told pretty much everyone we know. And I can without a doubt count about 5 car sales they lost because of my bad experience.

It's only been a few months too.
