Aloha,

Recently acquired a 2003 DSG Vert that had 2,800 miles on it when I picked it up from a member here in New Mexico! mods from previous owner were: H&R race springs, AFS reps (love them), Bassani X pipe with no cats, Bassani cat back, MGW shifter and smoked out tail lights and reflectors. Still smells like new!

My father bought an 03 DSG vert brand new, I was 12 years old at the time. Over time we did a pulley swap, tune and exhaust. As soon as I turned 16 years old I would take it out on joy rides when he was out of town and I immediately knew this car was very special. I moved away for college and while away my father told me he sold the Cobra and I was devastated as it was by far the most fun ive ever had driving a vehicle and I had plans of my own to inherit it somehow haha. not to mention the fact I was raised around this car! however unfortunately my father unexpectedly passed away last year and before he did we would talk about how I want to get another terminator to replace the one he had since I've finally graduated college and have a job in my field. well I finally did it.

I flew from Hawai'i to New Mexico and bought this bad boy, made it all the way to Long Beach to ship it home. Only issue was a check engine light due to no cats, does anyone know where I can get MIL eliminators I cant seem to find a reputable source?I wanted to make a post introducing myself and my new, to me, terminator!

Also because i've already acquired a few mods and just wanted to see what yall think: billetflow 2.76 pulley, JLT ram air and cold air intake (literally both the long and short one because I was indecisive, it rains a lot here unexpectedly but I would like to install the 'cold air' one that goes into the fender well), metco 4 piece idler kit, Bama X4/SF4 tuner

Great story!
I’m sure he’d be happy for you.
Cobra vert in Hawaii sounds good right about now (just threw the Hellcats snow tires on).
Mods plans sound good.
Tune over MIL eliminators?
What tires do you run?

My favorite Terminator color! Congratulations, and welcome to SVTPerformance. That is one LOW mileage Cobra. I'm surprised/not surprised every time someone buys one with under 3K miles, since these cars are now over 15 years old. You got it with nice base mods, and your new list is solid. I think you'll be very happy with the Ram Air version. Easier to clean/change filters and you don't have to worry about water issues. With the mods you will have, you're not going to see a big enough difference in power to warrant the Cold Air version. JMO.

Sharing memories with with my dad and my son working on cars are some of my favorite. Excellent color choice and congrats on the cherry ride. The question is, what touches will be added to honor your father past the fact that it's the same color combo?

Thanks for the advice, yea concern was the water because it will be sunny here and rain for 10 minutes out of nowhere. so its kind of inevitable I will get caught in it eventually. Ill just hold on to the cold air for down the road perhaps.

I was quite surprised at the milage myself, I added about 1k miles on the trip to LA making memories in the Cobra right off the bat! I stopped in Vegas for 2 nights and drove it down the strip a few times that was fun. Just hit 4k miles but now it will be driven once a week or two just for when i need some 'therapy' haha

I think the exact same color and vert are homage enough since there was less then 500 in this combo I believe, I was actually looking at black hard top's but as soon as I saw this I knew. So glad I went with the vert as I can utilize it often here

Actually Cobra Bob I have your shifter gasket on the MGW and then this shift knob. The shift knob may be one of my favorite mods hah

That shifter knob has been pretty popular over the years. Thanks for being a customer. ;)

@hawaiiancobra im on O'ahu! there is 1 other terminator here I am acquaintances with the owner and then 2 I've ever seen in passing on the road. Id imagine there are a couple more here then there but nice im sure its ready to come out and sweet you got a vert too!

@biminiLX Currently its got on Nitto NT01's out back in 315/30R18. It had NT01's in the front as well in 275/35R18 but before the drive back we replaced the fronts with the only tire we could find in that size within a 3 hour radius which was these All Season Michelin Pilot Super Sports. So I'm looking to replace all 4 tires with a new matching set. The Nittos are about 13 years old and they got real sketchy in heavy rain on the freeway as you could imagine looking at that tread. I love them in try weather but it rains to intermittently here I cant risk the car just to keep that model tire. I've driven it here in medium rain and was white knuckling it and going 5mph under lol. Im looking at Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 as thats the only tire that comes in both sizes and looks like it could handle some occasional rain too.

Good to hear Matt. Tires can make or break performance can fun. How do you plan to drive it? Any hard pulls or drag strip?
I’m assuming it’ll be a low mile pleasure car.

@biminiLX just hard pulls in the streets for not, unfortunately there isn't a drag strip or even a track in Hawai'i currently but there is talk that they will be making both in a more rural area of the island! Yea I currently have my truck and a newer Fiesta ST lol, too many cars ill sell one but the terminator has been a dream car for a while and now I got one at the right time etc.

@dom418 lol I think he may have had an idea but he never said anything or grumbled. he always had too many cars to keep track I think and most importantly I always brought it back in one piece so no evidence. and thanks! ill post a pic of his too so everyone can see!

@hawaiiancobra sick because I''m pretty confident those are the exact tires ill be getting, you know how the rain is out here

I found a pic of my dads Cobra, shortly after he sold it I found the dealer online and saved all the pictures. I believe he had just over 7k miles around 2010 when he sold it. Once again I was away at college so it all happened so fast. Disclaimer those are not his vehicles in the back those are the dealers lol and also yes he added the 10th anv rims and calipers as well as the power mods mentioned earlier. Heres the one that started it all for me! and after it I will post a couple of mine finally in Hawai'i!
