I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Looks good! Having served on a carrier during the Viet Nam war, it stirs up memories both good and bad. God bless our veterans! I salute you all!

I did, I found the battle scenes kept cutting off short, and some of the physics they used for the carrier landings was nothing short of retarded.

Is there a lot of action throughout? I've watched a lot of movies with scenes that defy physics. I can deal with a little poetic license as long as the overall movie is well done, with a high level of action.

There was a fair amount of action, I just found each scene was cut off too soon, keep in mind I'm veeeery picky with movies like this so I may be in the minority with my opinion of it.

It got horrible reviews. Ratings of one star (out of four) in my paper. I'll wait til it's on free TV. Too bad, because it's an awesome piece of our history.

Have not seen the movie and won't be going. I couldn't stand the CGI.

Even though many of the actual scenes in the 1976 hit were recycled, at least it was "real" footage.
7 Weird Facts About the 1976 Movie 'Midway'

I remember seeing it in '76, that sensurround was awesome.
Some of the greatest actors in it too - Glenn Ford, Charleton Heston, Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda...

My dad watched it today (AF vet, big WWII history guy) and he said that while he enjoyed it, he was unimpressed with the CGI ans actually mentioned the raw footage from the original.

Of course I reminded him they can’t make more original footage of the battle. He said it was better than Dunkirk.

Illy probably catch it when it’s out if theatres.

I liked it, I took my sons because they aren't teaching them about WWII in school as much anymore other than Pearl Harbor. I enjoyed it, I don't care about the CGI stuff or any of that, what I like is they told it from what appears to be the point of view of those who were there as best they could. Maybe they used memoirs or from old interviews but still it was good enough, no roided up action hero BS. My sons are now actually reading about all the battles of WWII because of that movie which is what I wanted to happen.

I won't see it at a theater, but I'll catch it on TV soon after. Thanks for the comments. I can get by the CGI portions; they don't usually impact a movie for me usually.

Loved the movie. Based on real heroes of the war, real events, some embellishment, but it's Hollywood.

As for CGI, you're not going to get away from it. Especially with a movie like this. You can't use old footage, you can't find the machinery that was used from WWII, so you have 1 option: CGI.

Written by Wes Tooke, he said he didn't want to fictionalize any of it and by historical standards, he did a pretty good job. Most Navy guys that I've spoken with say the landings are fine, so I'm not sure what is actually incorrect about them, physics wise.
