What happened to the tuned ST vs the tuned SRT race? Did i miss it or not done?

Go to 7:10 to watch a Modified Ethanol Tuned Explorer beat an incompetent driver behind the wheel of an SRT Durango.

Does a tune even do anything on the hemis? Its very hard to argue how impressive the EB moves for only a $500 tune. I do wish they just stuck with pump gas 94 though

From what I understand that 392 on factory calibration is pretty rung out as is...you might get a little more with a tune only, turning off tq mgmt should help some down low, provided it hooks up...I have also heard a CAI and tune pick up 20 hp, 30ftlbs tq... 450ish rwhp/460ish rwtq...

Look how well the ST did with ONLY A $600 TUNE!!!! (Extremely small print: "and e50 fuel.")

Funny how nonchalant they were about the fuel being used to gain that 100hp and 165tq. Your average Joe watching that video wouldn't even realize the significance of the fuel change. Smh

Far from maxed out 20-30 hp is the norm if you have a good tuner . You can gain around 15-20 hp from longtubes and even more gains if you tune for e85 or race fuel

It would be a lot cooler with the 3.5eb from the factory. Hp and tq numbers would be matched between the two vehicles. Ford really knows how to miss the mark the mark in some way when it comes to their vehicles lately.

The ST is stout but I think I’d still rather have the srt Jeep or possibly the Durango over the ST, stock for stock.
Actually, the 3 liter is a more modern version of the 3.5. 500Hp with just a flash is cool. Can't help with the blender soundtrack, though.

Couple of observations.

Explorer sounds pretty rough.
Tuned, it probably makes more at the wheel than the Durango SRT
Explorer weighs 4,800LBS vs. the SRT Durango @ 5,500LBS

Both are priced very close to one another, but, I'd take the larger, heavier Durango SRT over the ST all day, every day.

Stock vs. Stock, SRT murders it and still hangs with a tuned ST despite having several hundreds of pounds of extra weight on it.

Good times on the ST though, that is quick for an SUV.
I agree Durango srt all day long.

I am speaking to tune only, no boltons

Ahh ok I think 20-30Hp gains on the 6.4 pretty far from maxed out . Reminds me when the GM guys said the new 5.0 was clapped out from the factory lol . I will say the new boosted ford cars are nice I gained well over 50 hp with my little 2.3 ranger .

Coyote surprised the **** outta everyone! I came back to Ford and bought a 14... amazing they can make 430+RWHP without ever touching a valve cover, gen2/3 cars even more ridiculous.

Regardless, the ST should be packing more from the factory. The 3.5eb makes 375/470 in the f150 and Expedition and the 3.5ho makes 450/510. Somewhere in between those figures is where, IMO, the ST should be.

Yes a tune will wake it up but not everyone is going to void their warranty to do so.
