Did you ever have a hobby that harmed/ruined a relationship?

if someone is mad or jealous about your hobbies, bad news, you shouldn't be together. Everyone needs their own space to be themselves. if your significant other isn't into your stuff that's fine, but have a common understanding about "me" time.
If you can't make time for the both of you then that's on you. If not the resentment builds and it ends up bad.

Lol....just purchased my 60th car/truck last week with more to come. My wife of 36 years never liked my car obsession hobby but she did not run away either. Soon I will be living near the car show mecca of OC MD and will want even more cars. That is why I am building a 3 car garage in my new home....lol.

Not sure how close you will be to OC but they don't require smog testing there.

AMEN! I lost a serious gf over it years ago. She was very jealous of my car sickness and hanging out with car buddies. Crazy bitch tried to give me an ultimatum, lmfao...peace’d out on her.

That sounds good. I will be in Lewes De. about 30 minutes north. Not sure what the smog testing is there. Just looking forward to getting down there and out of this NJ tax hole.

Roger that.

I'm not sure on their requirements for smog either, it is a very nice area though. Just close enough to the beaches without the crowds. We have a house in west OC near Assateague and it's nice to be away from all of the tourists.

You did the right thing.
Jealousy shows a lack of self confidence to an extent. If a s/o is mad about you being with friends they either have none, or the whole "what're you going to cheat on me" nonsense shows how insecure someone is. or they're cheating themselves. Mutual respect in relationships are what make them the strongest and last the longest. My girlfriend and I have tremendous mutual respect for each other and we can both let the other do whatever because of that. We're both comfortable and happy enough knowing no outside noise can ever affect the amazing bond we have.

Nice. Know exactly where you are. Building a home about 9 miles west of the Rehoboth beach boardwalk in Lewes off Route 24. Its a good location not too much in the middle of the crowds but not too far out either. My cousin has owned a condo across from the convention center in OC for many years and sits out on the road for every spring and fall car cruise show weather permitting. Looking forward to being down there in OC for the shows. Planning my next ride soon for when I am finally down there.

They can either join in on the fun or take up hike and go date some boring mofo.

I take a few fishing trips every year and a week long motorcycle ride every year. She doesn't want to join and i'm fine with that. Time doing our own things is good. BUT right before I take off for a week on the motorcycle I always take her out someplace very nice. Then I do it again when I get home. Seems to keep the peace.

Snowmobiling for me, I'm gone a bit in the winter so when I am home I try to make some extra effort with her. Most of the time this works but it does get annoying sometimes lol

My wife appears to enjoy pretty much anything I like to do. The only thing I can tell she doesn't like is playing video games, but I don't play much anymore.

If it's a track day she wants to go, and run her car. If she doesn't want to go, she wants to take pictures of the cars.

She likes going to the range probably more than I do, although we hardly go anymore.

I'm not really over the top on most hobbies though.

So far no. My 3 biggest hobbies are cars, guns and hiking. Only 1 gf that didn’t like the gun part but she came around. Still didn’t workout though.

I will say though, I’m to old to give a shit if some chick doesn’t except a hobby. Yea there will be gray areas and compromises in any relationship which I’m 100% on board with however I’m upfront with what i like and do. Take it or leave it.

When I was 7, my 8-year-old girlfriend broke up with me because I said I like riding my bike better by myself. I remember she yelled at me and then later called the house phone to yell some more. I hung up on her.

my biggest hobby before my wife was going out and fuk'n hoes. So yeah I pretty much had to give that up. I honestly have no desire to be with anyone else my wife is smokin' hot and when we are together I know people wonder how the hell I got with her. My personality is shit I'm not good looking and I'm broke as all hell so they automatically conclude that I'm obviously working with a major package. The secret is I treat her like shit, she always comes second. I learned at a young age if you treat a woman like shit you'll never get rid of her. Treat her good for a day and she's on to the next. You need to be the 'perfect' asshole. Don't get me wrong I treat my wife better than most.

My wife is awesome though. She gives 2 shits about what I do and likewise I can care less what she does. Only time she gives me shit is when I have to leave the country or travel since im usually gone for weeks at a time. She gets pissy when im gone and wants me home but otherwise when im home she just 'is'. The mrs hates all of my cars except for my camaro. She tolerates my marauder and my harley truck now too but liked it when it was stock. She doesn't like speed or racing and prefers I don't do it. But again in order to treat her like shit I don't care what she thinks. Right now our youngest is 2 months old and she's already talking about having #4.

So yeah my old hobby died.

Wish my wife had hobbies lol. The only thing she doesn't really like me doing is playing video games but idc it keeps me at home and out of trouble. She goes to the range with me and attends car events as well. I have stopped spending money on the car for the mean time i'm going to be getting rid of it anyway for a truck soon. I've just learned to balance stuff out the best I can.

It's funny how some women can and other can't understand a car hobby, or even a hobby in general.

My buddy broke up with a girl for other reasons, but here's one reason she was absolutely amazing. He told her maybe a week in advance, "Hey, some friends are coming over on Tuesday after work and we're working on the mustang." She said that's fine. We showed up around 6, said hi to her and like 4 in total went to his apartment garage, aka it's like a 3 minute walk away. 30 minutes walk, she appears with a 6 pack of beer on ice. "I thought you boys might be getting thirsty, so I brought you a treat." She came back down an hour later, asking if we wanted more, and even added, "Should I order you guys a pizza?"

There was never asking if we were almost done, or her complaining asking him when they were having dinner. She simply assumed it might take a while, and left us alone in a sense, but actually made it better by bringing us beer and pizza.

So simple, yet so amazing.
