I replaced a shifter cable on my 99 Camry shortly before I got rid of it (wouldn't pass inspection). I got one on Rock Auto for ~$50 bucks. If they were out, it was going to be around $275 at a chain store.

If it was a choice between a $300 cable on a $300 car or just doing a MacGyver zip tie job, I know which one I would have chosen.

Pretty creative fix. I would imagine that folks have performed quite a few fixes using zip ties.

I have done similar highly customized work of this nature from time to time. Bravo sir, smart thinking.

Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

Good job on the quick fix.

I dont think I would have ever made it through a mission without zipties, gorilla tape and 550 cord. I swear we would break something every time we got our boats in the water.
