Actually there was a 2000 Cobra made, it was for export only to Japan and Australia.

also, another reason for no US cobra was the 99 Cobra horsepower fiasco, they were still dealing with the recall well into 2000.

I have a US 2000 cobra brochure that shows the car in two new colors, Aztec Gold, and a light blue color, and the R is the center of the brochure.

I remember that SVT decided not to produce a regular 2000 Cobra because of the efforts needed to correct the issue with the 99’s, amongst other things, but I don’t recall them building any 2000 variant of the Cobra other than the R. I know they produced an export model in other years, but are you sure it was also done in 2000?

I knew about the 2002 Cobra but this is the first I have heard of a regular 2000 Cobra. Where is this information coming from?

Ford had the car built, brochures printed up, and then the 99 horsepower fiasco happened, and they cancelled the 2000 cobra.

the ones I saw at the Rouge plant back in 2000 were for export to Japan and Australia.

Were these possibly 01 models in late 00? According to Wikipedia, there were no 2000s made period. The exports were the 2002 model. Got anything to confirm what you saw in 00?

A Quick Word on the 2000 SVT Cobra that never was...

Because of the 1999 Cobra performance debacle, the standard 2000 SVT Cobra was pulled from production, only to return in 2001 rated at a true 320 hp.[205][206][207] The production run of the 2000 SVT Cobra R (see below) went ahead without issue. Ford still printed brochures for the 2000 Cobra, with a print date of December 1999, four months after the 2000 model was officially cancelled. The reason for this was because these brochures talked about the upcoming 2000 Cobra R.”

2002Edit
Although many enthusiasts believe there were no 2002 Cobras, approximately 100 vehicles were partially built in the US and shipped to Australia[242] for right-hand-drive conversion and final assembly by Ford Tickford Experience (FTE).”
