I would NOT buy the first year of this transmission. New to Ford and untested behind a blown V8 with strong torque numbers.

As far as the price, I think the ADM thing will end pretty quickly. I just don't see a lot of people out there that can afford a $75-$100K Mustang as a toy. In my neck of the woods, that is a starter home!

Tom,

I agree with your take. For the reasons you stated above as well as a few others, are the reasons I went with a new Z06 last May in lieu of waiting for the GT500 to be released. It's not that I could not afford an ADM, I simply do not wish to play that game.
So, the Z06 will hold me out at least until the GT500 has been out for a year or two, and then I will revisit my choices again; keep the '19 Z, go GT500, or possibly explore the C8 Z06.

+1.

My '13 GT500 and '19 C7Z represent the best of both (blue oval and bow tie) worlds to me. Both have 3 pedals, along with no ADM on the Shelby and significant discount on the Z06. See you around the Corvette Forums, @paluka21!

I called Green Ford in Greensboro NC to check on the price one more time, and I had the "Pleasure" of speaking to one of the sales managers who I will not mention by name. Anyways they have a Black with white stripe car on the way with track package. He was unsure of the exact price, but say ADM will be $30,000. If my math is correct, you could buy a low mileage cobra foxbody, terminator, and trinity for what this one car could cost with markup. SMH

………….and then watch the 2020 prices, new and used, dive next year when the 2021 HP is "up'ed" to 775....and forget about ever recouping the ADM amount in your lifetime.....Seen it before, many times in the New specialty car world.

The Trinity was the king,.........until the 2020 GT500 numbers came out.
It'll be interesting to see how much power and what kind of mods can be done to a stock engine/block. We already know that a throttle body cannot be updated.

2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Dragon Snake makes the GT500 even faster

You know it's bad when even Shelby can't get big numbers...and I quote "A stock GT500 is rated at 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque, and Shelby says this Mustang is working with something over 800 horsepower. It’s not a huge improvement, but we imagine the 5.2-liter V8 is pretty well stretched out as it is."

Looks like you'll be paying more for appearances then speed...I'll stick with the Trinity

I saw that thing today, I'm sorry but that thing is ugly as hell, just build another GT500 super snake.

I think the real limiting factor is the DCT (tr9070). I'm waiting to see how much power you can put through it before it pops cause your talking at least a $15k fix when it does. This is a very common problem with GTR's, the 6sp DCT is cool until you hit a certain HP level and then its just a matter of time before the DCT lets go.

+1 regarding the newest SA creation!

Thanks! I'm not sure yet. Unfortunately, the C7Z arrived the same day as 20 degree temps and snow, so I got to "drive" her all of a couple hundred feet as I backed into the garage. We left a few days later for some R&R in a much warmer climate. Driving her will probably wait until next spring. Initial impression, however, is the Vette's more refined - she certainly includes better tech and more creature comforts. In fairness, however, she's 6yrs newer and, even with current discounts/incentives, cost more than the Shelby. (She's a 2019 Z06 2LZ M7 Coupe, Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic, Black Interior & Wheels, PDR & Nav, Competition Sport Buckets, CF Hood Stinger & Mirrors. Pics are posted at New Z06 owner - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion.)

You think a trinity is stronger in stock form than the 5.2 predator?

I was looking at a 2019 Elkhart Blue Z06 2LZ A8, almost identical to yours. Gorgeous.
Congrats and enjoy.

No of course not...The proof is in the numbers. What I do believe is our cars may be able to hold more mods then the predator engine. Plus we don't have to put 140k with ADM in our cars to reach the same HP as the predator has or looks as it is capable of having. Is the 2020 car amazing? Of course! Is it worth 100k without ADM? Maybe....Honestly though how many guys are really going to buy a 100k mustang and then run it on the track as this car was built for...I wouldn't be scared to say 2 to 4 percent. We should know whats going to happen is most will sit on the lots not purchased or used with 1000 miles or under.....I'm just saying that she may be the king of the hill, with some cheap mods on the trinity she can and will be dethroned...

Lots to unpack here.

You car will not “hold more mods” then the new car. Everything about the new motor is stronger and engineered for more power: block, rotating assembly (no pencil-weak rods like condor/trinity), better heads, the list is long. The Predator is good for A THOUSAND more rpm bone stock than a trinity. RPM=horsepower.

I’m in the camp that agrees the price on the new car is absurd with the ADMs. Also agree only a small percentage of buyers will road course the car, very small.

However, it’s silly to compare what a trinity car “can be” with mods because the same can be said for the new car only then, the gap will widen. A Honda Civic with mods can crush a 13/14 gt500 too..... so?

The new 500 will make close to 800whp with a tune, e85 and pulleys. Mark my words. And it will love forever at that level. That is a mark the trinity simply cannot achieve.

I've never down the new 500 the points I made was for the price I believe the car has weak points and only time will tell. I may be one of the few, but I'll never see a day when a mustang to me is worth over 100k. And this is coming from a owner of a 68 gt350, 66 gt350 replica, 69 cobra jet Drag Pack, FFR cobra, 67 gt500, 69 GT350 Hertz, 04 terminator, 68 GT J code Fastback, 68 GT J code coupe, 67 A code Fastback car, and now the 14 trinity. Yes she is a supercar in her own right, but I see ford struggling to sell them at this price. Once again time will tell. Maybe I just have a true place in my heart for the trinity. I owned a 17 GT350, to me mustang should stay off the road courses and keep with the straight line. What do I know though.

Agree with pretty much all of that.

What was your impression of the GT350?

As much as possible. :)

You plan on e85, correct?
Eh, Arizona doesnt really have a strong pump-ethanol game. Im more likely to just run race gas for now. The Old Girl has been retired from daily duties, so i can stomach filling up with 100 octane ever month or so.

I was planning to buy a bigger blower like a Trinity TVS or maybe one of those new VMP Gen3Rs. But, I decided since I already bought rods, Id rather buy a set of Diamond Pistons and get my block dry sleeved. With higher compression pistons, the M122 might not be such a dog.

*edit* Im still going to get a blower and return fuel system, but those are on the back burner for now.

The higher heat generated from the M122 Vs TVS/KB/Whipple coupled with higher compression could be a difficult combo to get good power out of.

I have a 2011 Gt500, and have most of the basic bolt ons, and upgraded suspension etc. To me, the car is off the wall fast, and on the street it's hard to get traction. I love the way it looks, and in my opinion, it's all about what you like. I could get a new C8 or the GT500, but my upgrade to this car will be the GT350 with the tech package. More power is not what I want, I want a car that's fun on the street and that I can enjoy, and not worry about how much power the car can make.
