Damn, that sounds nice. What sucks is that I could trade in both my Mustangs and still come up $30,000 or so dollars short.
Plus now that the info is out on these cars, the dealers are all charging huge markups. Give it a year or 3. I’m not sure how long Ford will make this new beast, but if they do it for awhile, I would suspect prices will be reasonable after the initial hype dies down some.

I think that s$!t should be illegal. Ford designated an MSRP. Dealerships should abide by that.

Problem is the "S" stands for suggested and some people are rich enough or dumb enough to pay those ridiculous mark ups.

While not a fan of ADMs, I believe in capitalism and a free market. If the dealers can’t get anyone to pay their high ransom, market forces will make them lower their price. If someone has extra funds and wants the latest greatest, who am I to stop them.

I can think of about 90,000 reasons to avoid this car. Sure it's got great tech, but that's just stupid money for a Mustang. If you are someone who isn't in to turning wrenches and modifying your cars, it's got the cool factor, but so many of us are tinkerers and prefer to modify. For those of us that couldn't care less about 1/4 mile times, manually rowing through the gears would be missed as well.

Just as I've turned my Terminator in to my ideal version of the car, I couldn't imagine not being able to do that with another Mustang. Life's been good and I could sell my '03 if I wanted and write a check for this Shelby, but there's no fun in that. Having driven many pre-production Mustangs thanks to friends at Ford, this is one that really hasn't drawn any interest, but I'm plenty happy for those that dig it!

All good points. This was not a “Go buy a 2020” thread. This was a “know what you are getting into if you challenge one” thread. I know modded Terminators are sometimes out looking for fun against other cars. I’ve seen the videos here, on YouTube and FB. Just know that the 2020 is a different beast entirely.

Why is everyone so sure this car can’t be modified? Is the computer locked?

10.7's are slow today? That made me lol literally! First off, 10.7 is NOT slow but anyone's stretch of anyones imagination. Its ****ing fast period! And a 750 whp Cobra would put BUS lengths on the new GT500 on the street.

Im sure from a dig the 500 will have the advantage being auto but no one really cares about races from a dig when ur referring to the general public. The general publics experience with racing their car will be from a roll not a dig. In a street race or roll race from 60-130 the 600 lb weight difference would result in the Cobra driving off into the sunset......

GT500 makes maybe 700 whp thru the auto. Thats a lot no doubt. But a 700 whp car weighing 4200 lbs has ZERO chance against a 750 whp car weighing 3600 lbs.

Having driven the car on both the road course and drag tracks, I can tell you with certainty that it is far more than a horsepower to weight ratio. The way the power gets put down through the DCT and the magic of magneride and traction control is on a whole ‘notha level than my other cars. The 2020 GT500 would absolutely destroy my 750hp Whippled 2011 GT500. In order for a Terminator to beat the 2020, it will have to have a huge power advantage, even though the car is lighter. An auto-converted car would have a better chance than the manual tranny cars.

What’s funny is there was a thread over on the 6g forums asking what mods people were planning on for the 2020 GT500. Many of the replies were ceramic coating, clear bra, rock guards, tints. It cracked me up that this is now what many consider modding their car.

Well... it has all the best stuff on it from the factory. The power is fantastic, the brakes are nuts, the exhaust is lovely, the gauges are all there, the tires are wide and grippy and the suspension is perfect.

Another thing to consider is it could be a very costly mistake to tweak this car up to insane levels. I’ll be one of the ceramic, clear bra, etc. modders.

oh I agree the car is probably as close to perfection as a factory car can get. But clearbra is not a mod.

Still the king of the street around my area. Putting a whipping on any Corvette or camaro that wants to play.
You don’t have a signature with mods listed. Curious what you’ve done to your Terminator. I know some heavily modded 03/04s could beat it, but it will take serious mods and a good driver.

As for mods or clear bra/ceramics/whatever on the 2020... I am more of the “let people do their thing.” It’s their car, they can do whatever the hell they want with it. It doesn’t affect me whatsoever so I don’t pass judgement.

I have cars that I’ve modded and driven hard. I also have low mile cars that I simply look at or put in my trailer to take to an occasional car show. Who cares what people do with their cars.

No one is comparing the Terminator except the fan boys.

No reason they should even be mentioned together TBH. A heavily modded anything has a chance to take down a new 500 in one type of race, definitely not all of them.

That's why many of us don't understand why this thread is here. We know why OP made it but we don't know why it's still here in this section. Makes you wonder if Brad is on vacation....or just sitting back and laughing.
