I’m looking at a 2012 Shelby gt500pp tomorrow. I’m just curious to what to look out for when walking around it and possibly looking underneath. Also curious if the price posted is a good price for this particular car or is there room to haggle the dealer?

thanks.

This looks like a very clean car to me. Miles are low for a southern car and it looks like it was taken care of. It is a pretty good price although there is always room to haggle I guess. It has been on the site for a while and it is coming up on winter so there is probably not a ton of demand for a summer car. I would bid him 34.

Agree, looks clean....but what's with the Oil Change Required being on? Indication of it not being cared for in the most important dept.?

like the color

Since its at a dealership, have them throw it up on the rack. You wouldnt be able to see much just laying on the ground

Compression check, $120.00

Take with you an LED flashlight and a small inspection mirror.

These are my "must do's" when buying any car, no matter the mileage

Fyi, places don’t really discount sports cars in winter. ESP not southern ones

The maint light for oil could just mean it’s ready to be changed or they forgot to reset it.
That would not deter me from buying a car.

I would however get it checked out from another dealer if you are not mechanical savvy. I wouldn’t trust the selling dealer to check it all that close.

Price isn’t too bad but the aluminum under the hood looks pretty ratty. Agree with Kona about compression check. I’d haggle in the rattiness of the motor. IMHO, IF it checks out ok I’d be 32k tops.

35K fair price for a Performance pack car. The market price for the 11's and 12's seem to be between 30-35k, with 30k miles or less.

I ended up buying it for $35k. I had a mechanic look around and under it while it was on a lift. I didn’t really like the color of it in the pictures but in person I was impressed. The oil needed to be changed but other than that, it had no signs of abuse. I’m happy with the purchase. Thanks everyone for your advice!
Congrats, and welcome to the club!

Its a very very good color. I love mine. Get it detailed and ceramic coated. The paint will pop even louder. I get so many compliments on my car. Glad it worked out for you

As far as the change oil light, mine comes on all the time but since I run Amsoil, I run it a little bit longer. Just hit the reset button on start up

Now, post some pictures. (That should keep you busy trying to figure out how to do that)

My car loves to over calculate how "fast" my oil life is used. I change her every 5k on the Amsoil. Its really good stuff.

I have never had that light come on. I change mine every 5k and I have put 20K miles on in 14 months. I have run Castrol and Motorcraft.

The light also goes by time, not just miles. I only drive my Shelby about 1k miles per year, and I have only gone about 300 since last oil change. It’s been five months and I’m at 15% oil life.
