Really just venting as I'm sick of hearing about the Demon and ZL1 while we are stuck with an anemic 526hp top level Mustang.
I'll be first to tell you I love the GT350, especially the R, and will own one eventually.
Just have a problem with Ford neglecting drag and street/strip guys, the majority of Mustang owners/racers.
SRT and Dodge really are killing it when you talk to enthusiasts of street cars. I currently DD a Charger Hellcat and I can tell you the Hellcat hype is legit and lives up to its reputation. Ford easily has the tools to build a competing car, even sedan; but apparently not the balls.
My point is Ford dropped the ball on the 50th anniversary of the GT500 and really need to offer a 'Drag Pack' in the next gen car. Definitely keep the 'Track Pack' for the press release, but in the street we need big power and traction in a straight line.
Ok, rant over, just sick of holding back when I hear all the Mustang bashing when guys talk to me about the Hellcat not knowing I'm a hardcore Mustang guy and I have to concede their point. As good as the GT350 is, it's a dog compared to the higher power Dodge and Chevy offerings.

I don’t like that the new 500 isn’t offering a manual shift tranny

Was there a reason they didnt carry over the 350 vents? Thats my only visual gripe with the 500 is it looks rather plain from the side

Hence the vents.

You're right, the fender without anything is missing "something." The vents looked to be tasteful and a bit humble. But they served to break up a rather large, empty area. I think they didn't use the GT350 vent just to go along with the rest of the unique GT500 front end.

Now if they could only find a way to mount a front license plate that actually adds to looks of the car, instead of an afterthought.

Why? The new trans is faster in all conditions.
If you want a stick, go with the GT350.

A Tesla is faster than many internal combustion sports cars, why not just go all electric? I'll tell you why, fun counts.

The manual is more fun even if the dct is faster.

Let's say cars go all autonomous, what fun would it be sitting in the stands while your car races around a track by itself?

Why not go GT350?
What’s your driver modded 2014 run?
I know what mine does.
I also know why Ford chose the DCT.

‘19-20 GT350/GT350 has the boost ready block, simply add a Whipple or Hellion TT.
Look, I also love manual trans. But if you’re honest you’ll admit there are significant compromises Ford would have to make to make a manual trans and clutch live with 760hp and 4100#. And after that, with testing it’ll get smoked by the DCT in every performance measure.
Ford was after the best performance possible and the DCT was the right choice.
How’s the ZL1 1LE selling? Manual Hellcat?
I haven’t even mentioned the cost, and that was probably the biggest constraint within the budget of getting the car done/approved.
I’m pretty confident they’ll make the 350/500 as long as the S550 continues, and if the next gen Mustang is delayed, you might see a manual trans GT500, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.
In the mean time, either keep contacting Ford with support for a manual GT500, buy and boost a 350, or just go drive a DCT GT500 and see if you like it.

To me, the issue boosting the 350 is the clutch/tranny. And that’s not even getting into the reliability deal.

If i could just get the tr6060 out of my current car with a 350 body and a predator engine...well, at least i don’t ask for much :)

I can see it now. Ford/Tremec updates TR6060 and puts it in the GT500 and the car is immediately slower and much less consistent at the track (but rest assured everyone that complains about this would be consistent throughout:rolleyes:). Then the reviews come in and we start hearing about how notchy the transmission is. Or that at high rpm it simply wouldn't go into gear. Blah, blah. But it just feels sooo much better.

Fight the power!! We need a slower GT500!

At this price point why not get the 20 GT500 and the manual 18 GT3....best of both worlds.

Lol i won’t even lie, i would probably take the slower car right now. But i am intrigued by the DCT and hoping to hear from how long term manual users react to it.

I just keep seeing “get the 350” if someone wants a stick, and I’ve had one and didn’t really like it that much. Adding boost to it would require me a script of benzos after what i went through with mine.
