Ill take my 2011 aluminum 5.4L with hella thick meat between the cylinder walls. :D

2020 GT500 is going to be a wonderful car, and more than worthy to pass the torch and GT500 nameplate to. This is literally year 1, and I wouldnt be surprised to see the GT500 S550 variant have A TON more options in future years. Id put money on there being a GT500 R spec waiting in the shadows that would make Carroll Shelby and John Coletti proud.

I was thinking the same thing, a GT500R would be awesome.

I know I'm opening an old thread, but wanted to get my opinion out there. As a recent ferrari owner and having several friends in the foreign car game I would not trust the first year of the clutch systems on this car. Dual clutches are great, but they're very expensive to replace and tend not to get a lot of miles. Especially when adding a lot of mods. No one really goes in and does thousands of add ons and bolt ons on these foreign cars and still have short life spans on the dual clutch. As a long time owner of a mustangs most of us guys cannot and are not happy with leaving our Mustangs alone. So I will wait a couple years to let the prices come down and see just how well all this new technology holds up to mods. Plus one has to decide is it worth the extra 25 to 30k for the base model over the loaded trinity. We also cannot forget the C8. I believe it's going to truly put a hurting on the entire car market for new cars coming as well as older cars. It's cheaper, no markups, and with the LS it will be more modable. IMHO..At the end of the day there will always be newer, faster, better cars. Using the GT350 used car market as an example it's obvious we won't have to wait to long to get the 500 at a discount, just hope it doesn't hurt the value of the trinity to much...

But.. But.. this new car rules the universe! Haven't you heard? It'll be a value at 200k!
There's even a threat/warning in the Terminator section! Beware! This overpriced 18 y/o newer car will be faster than a Terminator!
Get with the program! And this new auto trans? It'll rule the universe too! It'll never have issues!
Because they said so!

I've never understood the infatuation with "new and shiny," to the point where some are willing to pay huge markups just to be first with the new toy. I don't doubt it'll be a solid performer but, as others have said, the first year of such updated/redesigned models is frequently plagued with bugs.

Im just thankful to the guy that bought my 2011 GT500 new. I know the dealer that it was sold new from. They are 100% on board the ADM train and Im sure 2011 being the first year all-aluminum, they bent the first owner over a barrel and no-lubed his ass.

We should all be appreciative of these people. For it is they that allow us to buy them used at reasonable prices. :D :D :D

I called Green Ford in Greensboro NC to check on the price one more time, and I had the "Pleasure" of speaking to one of the sales managers who I will not mention by name. Anyways they have a Black with white stripe car on the way with track package. He was unsure of the exact price, but say ADM will be $30,000. If my math is correct, you could buy a low mileage cobra foxbody, terminator, and trinity for what this one car could cost with markup. SMH

So, they are expecting people to give them the equivalent dollars of a NEW Mustang on TOP OF the price of the GT500, just to own a new 2020 GT500....

And he said it with a straight face too? ****ers

.
After contacting every Ford dealership within 100 miles of my home, I lucked out & was able to order my 2011 @ 2K below MSRP.
The 14 was a different story, ( May 2013 ), it was hard to even find a dealer with an allocation, most only got 2. After several e-mails back & forth, got a commitment for an order @ MSRP..

With all the low mileage examples of our cars that have come up or are coming up, I'd have to consider a used example if these trend similarly. I just don't see a lot these being purchased at high ADMs and getting beat up on a road course. Although, I could be wrong. At 65, you'd think I'd have outgrown this hot rod phase by now.

I got my '12 & '13 from the same local dealer @ MSRP. I've purchased many vehicles from them.
I had the same offer promised if I pursued a '20. I have no interest in the car so I thanked him & declined.

I made an MSRP deal, including a deposit and "contract", for my '13 locally in mid-2012. The dealer later resold my allocation to some idiot who paid them thousands over MSRP, proving they're untrustworthy profiteering scum. I made another MSRP deal with a small dealer in another state that still did business on a handshake. They delivered, as agreed, and pledged the same MSRP deal on future SVT/Ford Performance purchases. Like you, I didn't exercise the option for the same reason - lack of interest in the new one.
