Picked up a set of export mirrors for my cobra. Sadly they're white and my car is black. Looking to disassemble them and have the base painted black, and the shell possibly dipped in carbon fiber pattern. I havent found a how to on how to safely disassemble them without damaging them. Does anyone have something along those lines to follow, or a guide before I just start pulling them apart? Thanks in advance all!

I'm no help here but if you aren't successful and decide to move on from the project rather than break them, let me know. I'm always on the lookout for a pair of white export mirrors that isn't crazy priced.

Turn the mirror upside down, remove the 3 fasteners that hold the mirror to the base. Lightly prior the mirror off with your fingers. They will unclip from the motor. Then remove the screws holding the motor. You’ll need to cut the wires so leave enough to splice back when you’re done painting. Buy some trim black for the bases.

Even though its a pain in the ass, it would be better to disassemble the connector end and fish the wires out. Thats how I did mine. Just remember to reinstall the wire/pins in the correct orientation back into the connector end. I used my stock mirrors as a reference.

No need to cut wires. Don't be a hack, just de-pin the connector!

This is the farthest I took em down. They've been painted. The Internal parts will always be hidden, so a little overspray on the coating is of no concern to me. Didnt cut anything. Thanks guys!
