I recently had a supercharger swap done on my 04 Cobra, and when my shop had it on the dyno for tuning, were unable to get a air/fuel readings on the car. They worked on it for a few hours, called SCT but still werent able to get any insight on what the potential issue could be. They are thinking it could be a faulty ECU and are suggesting i replace it with a stand alone holley system which is just under $2000. I wasnt sure if anyone has had or heard about a similar issue, or has any insight on what it could be before i start spending money. I was hoping to be able to drive the car again before the winter, but its not looking good. any input is much appreciated.

What do you mean they couldn't read the A/F? These computers only read short term trims. Under WOT the computer goes into open loop. Thats why a separate wideband is needed to tune these cars. If your shop doesn't know that run away.

^ Yes, doesn't make sense. Need more detail. Why would SCT be called? Software issue? Wideband installed? Cable issue to sct device? Wrong pids?

I don't really use the wideband for tuning. Go by what the computer is spitting out for fueling and plug checks.

Turn and run from that shop. Do yourself a favor and get the car to performance Dyno in Concord NH. I see you are in Vermont. Well worth the trip. Pete knows these cars inside and out. He's the best tuner in your region.

sounds like they're trying to tune your car with software that isn't compatible to our ecu and they're looking for a solution. I agree to look for another shop, this is fairly simple for guys who know how to tune our cars.

ya this really doesnt make sense, I'm with the guys saying to find a new shop. Based on the information provided they seem to be 1) incompetent 2) just want to up-sell you or 3) some combination of the two.

This sounds like a catastrophic scenario unfolding.....the next thing that will happen is you take their advice....go with their standalone selection....then they blow the motor up

"Those terminator motors never were worth a shiit.....really weak internals....BTW we have this peachy longblock right over here for sale...."

Definitely sounds like they’re trying to scam you into a Holley set up you don’t need! No performance shop is that stupid regarding tuning a Mustang with the factory ECU.
BTW
I garuntee they will get you for a HELL of a lot more than $2000 for the Holley stand-alone. Probably closer to $4000 after install.

You're getting scammed, but in all fairness the shop is correct you are not getting A/F info from the ECU...
