I hear you but sometimes it doesnt always work out like that. I used to be a power seller on ebay. It is what it is. Liars are everywhere.
sell on there quite a bit. Average about 30K/year in sales as a side hustle. Ebay favors the buyers is eh..as a seller you have to word your listings very carefully to not get charge backs and fiddle with the default settings to not enable returns and block certain buyers. Also when a seller wants to return something, you have to ask questions in a way to admit the seller bought the wrong item etc. GREAT PICTURES HELP A TON TO WORD OFF SCAMMERS OR SHADY BUYERS. Plus I marked all my items that I sold so I know if the return item was mine. Also, I called ebay probably once a week and their customer service was quite helpful. I sell used automotive parts. The fees were high but my profit margins were quite high and it was a place to sell to where I could list the item as a BIN and forget about it until it was sold; the ebay platform works for me.

Amazon I can't figure out for the life of me. I have items on there as well but the sales are uber slow compared to ebay. I know I have to fiddle with seo but don't have the time to learn it. Ebay is my go-to.

I buy and sell on eBay. Not to fond of their fees but it is what it is. Not everything I sell has a local buyer.

There are some other sites I’ve heard about like mercari or something like that. Could become an alternative to eBay but probably will never have the traffic that eBay has.

I hate selling on eBay, most of the stuff I'm selling (bike parts) easily moves on FB bike specific pages...I'll randomly list things on eBay these days ONLY when they run their 'no listing fee' specials.

Used to sell a lot on the until they changed their fee structure + the final value fee. That and they almost always side with buyers with regard to complaints and returns no matter how full of shit they are.... it's really gone to Hell in the last 5 years.

I used to sell quite a bit on eBay many years ago... like I’m talking 1998... when eBay was a true auction type of environment and not the shithole commercial mockery it is today. I’ve been a member since and have well over 1k+ positive feedbacks on there, just don’t sell as much anymore.

Hell, you’re lucky if you can even get the correct returned results on there anymore due to all of the CRAP that is being sold on there by sellers who put any keys words into their listings or titles that don’t even apply to what they are selling (junk).

I used to go to local auctions, buy up interesting lots and then resell on eBay and made good coin doing it. After the original owners of eBay cashed out and PayPal became HUGE, eBay essentially went south. When they started allowing ANYTHING to be sold on there and in ANY type of selling format BESIDES the original auction format, the site literally lost tons of Sellers. Not to mention gouging Sellers for ANY type of damn fee they can nail the Seller with OR try to restrict the Seller in what he/she can or cannot sell, or what’s applicable by eBay rules or not.

Crypes, I’m surprised there isn’t a damn fee just for looking up items on that site anymore.

Hell, when those Hatchimals were the hottest toy a couple of years ago, we were selling those POS’s for 3-4x their retail value. Then all of the sudden, eBay throws a restriction onto Sellers limiting total quantity they could list for sale per day. THAT was ridiculous and the reason being is because Major Retailers and Big Box stores belong to eBay and sell there too... so those Sellers were getting bent that Consumers were buying at retail depleting their own inventories, holding product from being sold and then turning around and selling for 3-8x the retail value on eBay.

IMO, if I have 1, or freaking 2,000 of some item, hot toy, or parts - then I should be the one determining my mark up and how many I’ll sell or list. Besides, eBay was making bank as well by the listing fees, any add on fees and final value fees... so they should not have limited sellers at all - but because Corporate Entities had a say, eBay caved.

Making $200k a MONTH? I don’t care what segment you’re in, but more so, I’d just like to know how? Do you sell via drop shipments so you never see or touch the products?

yeah, shit has gone WAY up since the early 2000s. you got ebay 10% and then PP another 3%, and on top of that shipping prices are going up. You have to raise your selling prices to make up for those fees. It's some work but if you play it right you can have $1000-2000 a month in PP funds, enough to cover a house or car payment. Just gotta deal with some weird buyers LOL

Last time I tried to sell something(cant remember what it was), it didn't sell and I got charged like $10-$15 just for listing it. Havent tried to sell anything since bc if anything doesn't sell ill just be losing money I thought. Is it still like this or am I stupid and listed it the wrong way? I have a bunch of special edition/rare adidas shoes and want to list them but don't want to be hit with fees just for listing them, thoughts on the best way to go about selling them on there?

Not sure when that was but i have plenty of stuff that either didn’t sell or took months. You’re only charged if it sells.

VHS/DVD recorder combos are great sellers. I unfortunately have to go back to Ebay soon, I have a large accumulation of things that are priced too high to put into my antique mall booth and I need a place to sell nationally.

You CAN make money on eBay, but it's much harder than it was years ago. Prices there are usually not much different than Amazon (fixed price, Buy-It-Now). eBay sways heavily to the buyer, so when you have issues like non-payment or demands for a lower ship price, good luck! Ask me how I know that. o_O With non-payers, you cannot do anything more than report them, get your eBay final value fee refunded, and move on. They won't even tell you how they're handling the non-payer, but I know for a fact it takes multiple offenses before a non-payer is expelled. I was once an avid eBay fan. No longer!!

I'll list random shit on there every now and then but my side business days are over, There is just no real money left to be made with the fees, paypal fees. I cant stand the fact that the seller gets zero protection and doesnt have the ability to leave negative feedback to warn other sellers about bum ass buyers.

It was a couple years ago in 2017 when I had my last SB 03. I had bought all the 99/01 cobra intake etc to do a turbo swap and an uninsured illegal immigrant hit me and ran and totaled it before I could do the swap. Anyway, I posted the stuff on eBay for around $700 and got charged somewhere around $50 even when it didn’t sell and I was like wtf! I didn’t re list it bc of that and got pissed bc I thought it was free but maybe it was something I chose to list it and got charged for a premium listing or something, I can’t remember. But I swear I’m not lying bc it caught me off guard and turned me away from selling stuff on eBay bc I thought their policy changed at the time and didn’t wanna re list it. I looked up my account and it’s too old to see the details but is there such a thing as premium listings nowadays?? Could have just been my fault for not paying attention but I’ll actually try and post some stuff now since there’s no fees if it doesn’t sell.
