Well im closing in on the install. Decided to build the trans and rear first since everything else was done I wanted to address these items first. But the very last thing I need is new plugs for my vortech install. What plugs should I run and where do I gap them at? This seems to be a very debatable topic so I come here to get the straight answer... Its a 98 Cobra built motor, V1 S trim non cooled with a 3" pulley, anderson power pipe, SCT3000 maf and green top 42lb injectors. Aiming for around 500wph, I see everyone suggest something for different HP ranges? Set me straight here.

How much boost? I run NGK Tr6 gapped at .028 on my Mach with 12-13psi on 93 and E85. Prior to the E85 tune I ran .032 on 93 for 2 years.

Honestly not sure how much boost she will put out. I'm going to guess 10+. I'm measuring pulley tomorrow at work to know for sure

The idea is to run the gap as wide as you can without getting spark blowout. On my 98 I'm able to run .034 at 10psi but the wife's 03 has to run at .030 at 18psi. Both run TR6 plugs.

My motor is already built, H beams, kellog crank, .20 JE pistons ect. I will be running a 3.12 pulley with an anderson power pipe. I seen allot of setups like mine getting very close to 500 if not over that mark without being IC or meth. With that pulley and powerpipe im really not sure the boost ill see. I guess we will find out.

You're going to see 14-15psi. Too much to not be cooled especially on an old V1 S that isn't as efficient as new blowers. My stock motor Mach makes 12.4psi at 6600rpm with the V1 S, powerpipe, 3.12, and Procharger 3 core intercooler. It's been at this psi for 3 years. Just ran 11.00 @ 126 last Friday weighing 3660lbs. It sees 140-150F Iat so nonintercooled yours is going to be well over 200F. You won't be able to put any timing in it. It'll make 500rwhp, but only for a few seconds before it heat soaks.

Due to cost right now I was going to do meth but needed a handheld first so I found a good deal on an x4 so the meth has to wait, but I do plan on doing meth or IC at some point. I wanted to hold off on the handheld but abosoluty need it to have it tuned so I couldn't turn it down. The rest of my money went into a hanlon trans and the rear. People keep pressing me to get a AF gauge as well, so now I need money for that smh. never ending

Ngk tr6 gapped at .030

I know this is a bit old but in back to it. I don't know much difference in heat range for the NGK tr6 plugs because they offer a variety in these. Are you talking the standard tr6 plugs or copper, iridium ect???

tr6 is the heat range I do believe, it's just the difference in material. irridium MIGHT take a little bigger gap. Keep in mind theyre harder to gap, you are NOT supposed to touch the center point and thats what most gapping tools use as leverage basically

So I'd be good with the basic tr6. I really dont see the need to spend and extra 9 bucks per plug if it's not making a difference

I ran TR6's in my last set up (19psi) with no issues. I have them in my current set up as well. They're just cheap enough to keep me checking them constantly.

NGK TR6 #4177. These are the copper based plugs. I've used them for about 10 years in both my Cobra's with no issues. I change them every 7-10K miles in my 98 and they really look pretty good when I pull them out. I'm only running 10lbs on that car though.
