The GT500 is picky about throttle bodies. Stock OEM is always good to go. Ive run a VMP twin 67mm no issues, Whipple Oval Monoblade no issues with the Whipple needing to have electronics swapped. I have a KB 168 Mono that needs to be rebuilt and an L&M Twin 72mm that I have never tried. Bought it cheap as a project, but they were either the cats ass or a paper weight like your BBK.

Twins bigger than 67 seemed to have have issues for whatever reason

Either way, you'll want to pick up an OEM throttle body assembly. LMR has em pretty cheap:

Ford Performance Mustang Shelby GT500 60mm Throttle Body (07-17) GT/GT500 M-9926-MSVT

Install, and drive car. If same condition remains then you have an issue elsewhere. Im confidant though that its just a poor TB.
Also, LOL at California. The TB in the link is the STOCK FACTORY GT500 throttle body assembly. But because its being sold through Ford Performance brand it has a different part number..... and because of that it does not pass CARB EO certification.

LMAO, what a shit show.

Yeah, the TB seems to be the culprit. Problem is that I had it tuned to all the aftermarket parts. Not sure if the stock TB will be enough with 1100cc injectors, C&L pullies and cold air, as well as the boost a pump setup.

Youll be fine to run the TB to see if it still fail-safes as thats whats most likely whats going on. You certainly wont be making your max power, and the tip in may feel off, but it will run.

Not to call out who tuned it for you but I’d like to think most tuners wouldn’t recommend the BBK due to issues. Can you share who tuned? I took advice here early on. For a twin, stick with what most here recommend: stock, VMP, or FRPP as mentioned. They work and reliable. BBK wasn’t perfect back in the Fox body years, but I wouldn’t use them now. Not bashing, just haven’t seen many or any positives.

Well that seems to be the consensus. I was hoping to get this running. Down to 2 error codes I can't clear: throttle actuator control system-stuck open, and t a c - forced idle. I am assuming that the second is part of the "limp home" mode.

Lexustec48, you are probably right, but I sure would like to get this straightened out without further expense. On the other hand the VMP with the larger elbow does look good!
Nutty 5.0, I would at least like to give these guys a chance before any under the bus throwing. Just going to either keep at working this out or step up to something else.
Thank you both for the response.

I'm guessing it's the tune. Note the description comment. Most likely scenario is adaptive control finally gave up on trying to control the throttle angle based on the tune parameters. Try resetting KAM (keep alive memory) and see if it will start again. If that works, it's probably the tune.

I am going to get back at it this morning. I took off the CAI tube and moved the plates by hand. They seem a little stiff and do not snap back like I expected them to. I did this with key off to make none of the systems are energized. See if this looks right, it sure doesn't to me. Tried to post a video of me moving the plate, too big..

If you do decide to pick up an oem TB with electronics for future trouble shooting, this is s good deal......No need to pay $150+ or even $100+..........

9C3E-9F991-CA/CB⎮FORD RACING 07-14 SHELBY GT500 60MM ALUMINUM THROTTLE BODY | eBay

^^^^I grabbed a couple at this -$100 price, I used the electronics off of one on a KB Dual 75mm that I recently installed on my car and the second I have as a spare for it's new/installed electronics for future trouble(s) if they happen.

If someone needs a bare oem TB w/o electronics I have one of these new oem take-offs for sale. It is always nice to have spare items for trouble shooting.

If someone has an oem TB on their car that does not look so nice (oxidized, etc.) from exposure to moisture/humidity, this bare w/o electronics oem TB that I have looks new.

If for nothing else, these oem take-off TB's are worth the buy just for the electronics change over to another aftermarket TB.

It is interesting that the oem GT500 TB was also used on the 6.8 V-10.....

I noticed they were similar when I was servicing my Excursion. Though, my V10 is cable, not Throttle by wire.

Hell, $80 bucks for a set of nearly new electronic is a steal. For whatever reason Ford won't sell them separate from the TB.

The shop that did the work is making an effort to rectify the problem. I have tried a multiple of things, ideas of my own and suggestions I have received here. I am just going to exercise patience with these guys for the time being. If it comes to replacing the TB I am looking at the VMP twin 67mm with the accompanying elbow. Any thoughts?

Sorry to vanish from the thread. I took the TB apart and reset the return spring and made sure nothing was binding. It drove fine, once. Today the same issue happened again. The TPS is new so my conclusion is that the control motor is bad. I took off in 1st and quickly shifted into 2nd, same as the first time. The motor gear moved freely, and still does. It was extremely hot when I finally got it home???

I wouldnt even stress on it. That 67mm from VMP is tried and true. I ran one on my M122 then TVS setup years ago. Great response and moved some air. Should have never sold that TVS setup, but it is what it is.

Thanks for the input. I am going to keep plugging at this for now. If I reach the end of my rope with it then VMP is definitely the direction I am going to head. I think it's the control motor is either bad or not sitting right on the TB.
