I absolutely love it. When I first sat in the car, I sat there for a while just staring through the roof. I am so happy I got it. It really makes a difference. I also love the Recaros. The look, the way I fit in them, they are great. I was so happy during my 3 hour ride back to NYC from 9:30 to 1AM. I had a smile on my face the whole time while driving under the moonlight.

What gears do the car have? Any gear whine on highway?

Congrats! Your driving impressions?

It’s a totally different car. The clutch is light. I jumped in the Cobra and I felt the heaviness in the clutch, not the Shelby. It felt like the clutch in my old BMW. Also, the shifter in the Shelby is more positive in it’s engagement and so smooth. The power in the Shelby is so smooth. I was going 90 and didn’t even feel it, but stomp the pedal and the car will get away from you. With the Cobra, I knew I was going 70. The seats hug you in the Shelby and the shifter is in the right place.

I love the touchscreen, the seats and the over feel of it.. the car is still savage but it’s a refined savagery. The Shelby feels more substantial vs the Cobra. Bigger and more powerful while the Cobra felt more connected. I drove the Cobra versus the Shelby where it feels like the Shelby is aiding me in the driving, but I haven’t turned off the nannies on the Shelby while I regularly do that with the Cobra.

It feel breathless. My Cobra feels like it’s running out of steam at upper RPMs and it is since I have a pullied Eaton, but not the Shelby. It still wants to keep going. Again, it’s so smooth, so refined in it’s savagery.

Now, the rear, it gets loose over bumps as compared to the Cobra but that’s the IRS vs the SRA. I like how I can change the settings on the struts and the steering. It’s really a very nice car.

Awesome comparison and congrats.

Just my opinion but put a watts link and torque arm on the car and the SRA will handle better than the IRS.

Congrats!

All your observations make sense to me, except your description of the clutch as "light" and similar to a BMW. Admittedly, I removed the assist spring years ago, but I've never thought of my Shelby's clutch as light (before or after spring removal). Mine is totally unlike any of the four MT BMWs we've owned and definitely heavier than my Cobra's clutch was. Something must have changed between the '13 and '14 MYs.

I used to have an E60 545i and it had a hydraulic clutch versus the cable in my Cobra. The Shelby feels like the BMW. It's so refreshing. It's a soft pedal and effortless. It does catch quickly but it feels so much better in traffic and just generally driving around versus the Cobra. The Shelby clutch grips strong and effortlessly. I love it. The Cobra is stiff and heavy. I've been driving Foxes, SN-95's and New Edges for years so I got used to it but it just feels so much nicer with the Shelby.

Thank you

One of the mods on my 14 were 3.73's, big increase in driving enjoyment..
I've heard that, and have a set of 3.73s, given to me by a friend. Haven't brought myself to install them because I don't want to risk gear whine.

Any issues with your install? Have you launched hard on the 3.73s?

You will have gear whine if you launch hard on a prepped surface with any gear ratio in a 8.8. It only takes one trip to the drag strip....my last set was dead quiet after install, and singing on the way home from the first track day.

What about wot? Like after installing it perfectly and it's quit. And then you just do roll racing from like 50km/h? will it be still fine and quit?

.
The shop that did all my major work did the gears, JDM, & I hear no gear whine.
Hard launches went by the wayside since I broke my hip, just happy to still be able to enjoy the 6 speed.
I know gear changes aren't rocket science, but it does matter who you have do the work..
