air to air f1a setup?

Hi guys I had a few questions on setting up a air to air f1a setup. I have an 01 cobra, with a built 03 shortblock but still am using my old manifold. I put my old timing cover on the new block but have an 03 cover sitting . I was running a p1, but sold it to buy a f1a kit from a member here.

I am trying to figure out the best easiest way to set up a air to air setup. Should I swap covers and then use the procharger f1a bracket, or should I use a p1 bracket? If I run the p1 bracket, would anyone know If i might run into issues with it flexing with the f1? If i run the 03 cover and procharger f1a bracket, can I still use my alternator, or do i need to swap to a 03 alternator? I also have all the 8 rib conversion pulleys, but i plan on eventually going to the cog setup, but later on down the road. Does anyone have any pics of their air to air setups? I'm just trying to wrap my head around the piping as well.

I really like the Sullivan intake, for how much cleaner it makes the piping look, but I'm told they lose torque, is it really a big difference if I swap manifolds to the Sullivan? And is the rest of the f1a kit worth anything minus the blower?I guess I mainly just bought it for the headunit.

Thanks for any help guys.

I run an F1A-94 on a modified standard bracket with an 8 rib drive on my 98 Cobra and no issues at all. I also have a Procharger dedicated drive setup for it as well, just never installed it as the standard bracket is working for me. I can't comment on the 03 setup as I don't have experience with it.

Right on, do you have any pics of your setup? Id be interested to see how you ran your piping.

I don't have any pictures of the piping layout, but it just follows the original route that Procharger used. Only thing I did was replace all the piping with 3.5" and welded as many pieces together as I could to eliminate couplers. I used Vibrant HD wiggins type clamps in place of silicone couplers as well.

The P1 bracket will flex. I ran a F1a on a p1 bracket and I ended up having to weld braces on the bracket to get it to stop flexing. The air to air piping runs the same from 94-04. What inner cooler you running the sheet metal procharger one or the standard 2 core inner cooler?

OP, I have a Procharger bracket for a mod motor someplace in my garage, although I don't know if it's for the P1 or F1 off hand. I picked it up years ago thinking I might use it at some point, but obviously never did. If you need a bracket let me know, and I'll dig it up to see what it is...

I am actually in the market for a new intercooler as someone bought my old setup. Been looking at the treadstone ones. I think I need to clock the blower if going to air to air, right? The way it is facing now I wouldn't be able to run my piping the way my old setup was. Have any of you guys spun the discharge side to face a certain way? Thanks for all the info guys.

I ran mine with the HOB renegade bracket setup on the '98 cobra timing cover. I wanted shortest routing possible so went with a top-exit Treadstone intercooler, deleted my hood latch, and welded on Vibrant clamps everywhere possible to eliminate couplers except at blower and t/b to give some flex.

Very nice setup, I never thought of routing the piping like that. Yours and twisted03 is the nicest f1a setup I've seen so far. Is that a Sullivan intake as well? I read they lose a little bit of torque compared to a 99/01 manifold, but I like how much cleaner it makes the routing. What numbers did you see with that setup?

If you spin the F1A like it should be spun you won't notice the torque loss. If there is any.

Thanks! Yes it is a Sullivan lower with custom HPP upper manifold. On e75 in hot humid air (Houston summer haha) it put down 744/662 on only 15 psi stopping at 6200 rpm. I'll be cranking up the boost and taking it back soon.

I like the top-exit intercooler. What do you run for a hood to clear everything?

I’m running the House of Boost renegade bracket with my F1A setup using 99 timing cover and Treadstone IC. Not much room left for activities that’s for sure!

I have a question if anyone might know the answer. What exactly is the design flaw of the procharger upper? If I was to just increase volume by raising it, would that make it a better design? What could i do to make it more effecient? I was just thinking I could still go air to water if I wanted if i could make more power with it.

I still have the procharger upper, and was kicking the idea around of making it front facing like the sullivan. I had it posted for sale, but since no one seems to want it I figure I can try and make use of it.

It's ugly, but it was just sitting around doing nothing and I was bored today. It's not full welded yet, just mocked up. So if I just raise it up more, would that help?
