Let's not forget the SVT Focus. And an NMRA Class dedicated to the fun little beast....Focus Frenzy. And frenzy it was!

Yea we should totally long for the early 2000. The years of the 4.6 2V lol!
Whoa...the 2v 4.6s may not have been the pinnacle of performance but they never stranded me...none of the 3 I had...ok ok, one tried once

We had the Lightning, 4V NA cobras, 2000 Cobra R....wasn't all bad, my full exhaust, bolton 01 cobra made 312 RWHP....was enough for most Fbodies at the time....Though I traded it with the quickness when the 03 cbora hit the streets.

Well if your intent is to argue that the early 2000’s was a better performance era for Ford than last 3 years then talking about the older V8’s is necessary.

Ford makes plenty of great performers right now. The current lineup would run circles around the older one. Would it make you feel better if the Fiesta and Focus ST’s were branded as SVT with no other changes? Is it just nostalgia you are chasing?

96-99 the sho had a small displacement V8, 3.4L....had a lot of issues with valve/piston interference with cam/cam sprockets failed....I'd pass
Ah I was busy modding anemic 4.6 2v cars with no TQ and fell on thier faces at 5k rpms back then lol

Until I got smart and got a 4v that is lol...still lacked in the TQ department though lll

What cars from the early 2000's are better than the last 3 years of Ford vehicles?

I think what he is saying is, Ford cars, in the early 2000s versus other cars from the early 2000s, were better. Don't compare 2000s to current year, compare 2000s to other 2000s and Ford was doing well. Current year, not so much. That is what I read it as.

That is how I read it and it was indeed an exciting time to be a Ford guy...really exciting time to be a car guy period...The ls1 powered C5 and fbody were a lot of fun too.

I'm losing a bit of confidence in Ford as well, really only the Mustang and F150 are the only 2 Ford vehicles I would drive but the pricing on them has gone through the roof.

There have been some very high profile misteps as far as vehicles being poor designed. The 5.4 3V cam phaser issue is ridiculous, they didn't take car of their customers. They never should have made a 3V Mustang GT, should have went straight to a DOHC design for 2005. Of course that was when they were the only player in town since the Camaro was dead and the Challenger had not been reintroduced yet. The 5.0 oil consumption issue should not happen either.
