What cars from the early 2000's are better than the last 3 years of Ford vehicles?

I recently read about Ford's problems with the Explorer plant in Chicago. After these vehicles are finished rolling off the assembly line, they are being sent to Flat Rock, Mi to be repaired. Immediately.

Obviously there are many possibilities of why there is such poor quality. However, I work in manufacturing in the same area, south side of Chicago. It is damn near impossible to find a decent employee. I would wager that for every open position we have had, 10 different guys have been brought in and cycled thru before you can find one willing to show up everyday, on time and actually do the work.

They are beholden to a movement that aims to eradicate the very means we used to enjoy motoring across America's freeways with. Every tweet, IG post, or advertisement they produce is carefully crafted so as not to offend those that are so easily offended.

They are a slave to regulation and big labor. Instead of dictating to the rest of the world how to make cars they have placed themselves under the global microscope and as such are under far more pressure than ever before.

And now Hollywood produces a movie about Shelby/Ford/GT40 from an era when men pissed in the men's room, women cooked/cleaned/raised a family, and the rest of the world feared our once great country. How utterly ****ing ironic.

SVT Contour

That was definitely a cool car but is it really better than what Ford is offering now? We have Focus ST, Focus RS, Taurus SHO and Fusion sport that would all run circles around the old Contour SVT. If anything the Fusion Sport is kind of a spiritual successor of that car.
