There's theory then reality. Find any times?
While bragging about yor car..you are putting down others.
Power to weight ratio...Front to rear weight ratio...the terminator is a nose heavy beast..along with any clone...you could add some weight to the back of your car to fix it;-)

Exactly, I couldnt agree with this more. ---- This subject becomes a pissing contest especially by those that think the one with the most HP is better!!!. Other than a super charger are 03/04 that much different? I doubt it. Would I love to have 75 more HP? sure I would but hey I have a low milage 2001 that looks almost show room and with all the usual rear suspension mods It handles like on rails and has good amount of power and will probably last a lot longer than one with a super charged motor. The OP opened a can a worms with this thread lol.

Especially if SC folks are going to come in and dis the Newedge in it's own forum.
They should really just join the terminator folks; since that's probably what they wanted in the first place....dropping a SC on the car is OLD tech and like opening a walnut with a sledge hammer.

Yes, the Terminators are more than just a supercharger. They have an alternator that dies quickly and an instrument panel that likes to not work or light up. And yes, those can be fixed.

Usually the problems are caused by owners pushing limits. Things will break eventually whether boosted or N/A.

There's a guy on here with 400k on his 03. He managed to leave it mostly stock. So I'd say even a supercharged engine can last.

I'd like to point out that these threads usually pop up in forums other than the Terminator forums. Who cares what other people think. Enjoy your car. If you don't like it either mod it or sell it.

Truth be told I’d rather have a 99 electric green or another Mach (SY, AB, or TR) than a Terminator. Strictly speaking on a New Edge stand point. There was a time I greatly coveted the Terminator, and wanted one with a passion. That time has passed and now I would kill for a 00R. Handling interests me more than power now. Though you can make a Terminator handle it won’t be as nimble as a 99-02 Cobra or a Mach can be, unless you do some serious weight reduction on the front end. Thankfully in road courses big power doesn’t mean much compared to a well sorted suspension system with tires, aero, and brakes added to the mix. Reason for my 3V Roush having several suspension mods and only having a CAI with stock pulley.

Pick your poison.

I quite enjoyed this thread discussion. My spin on the 2001 Cobra, is that us 90s kids grew up around the SN95s and New Edge Mustangs. Many of us view these cars as classics, which IMO, should add value to these cars 30-40 years from now. Especially considering there are ~ 7,000 produced, and even less than that still roaming the streets. Then I sit back and consider what 2001 meant to many Americans, and I get that little extra wrinkle in my daily commute. It is a good time to be a Cobra owner in the land of howling Coyotes. It just feels so damn good.

I still have my 01, bought new, with no power adders. I'm still working on suspension, but I have fun when I drive it on the street, which is only where I drive it as there is no track close by.

I don't care what other people say.

I'm the original owner of mine too but it's eaton swapped. Not many of us left around!

The car is a lot more fun on the street with the eaton than without it. Way back in the summer of 02, my first time ever racing at a track, I was able to run a 13.3 @ 105 stock. Car ran pretty well then and runs even better now.

With the stock pulley it now runs 12.0 at 117. Is easily an 11 second car but I have 4.30 gears from my NA days. Hit the limiter in 4th before I cross the line and don't want to shift into 5th.

OP sounds like he’s trying to justify owning a slower cobra.
Slower is a relative term, and a poor insult. The terminator did not exist in 2001, so what Ford product outran the Cobra that year? Everything from that era is considered "slow" by todays standards of entry level cars running high 11's stock. The new GT500 runs 10's stock, line up a stock terminator or Coyote and see how they fare against the newer technology.

I said slower cobra. I.e. slower than an 03-04 cobra. Which it is.

I love my '99 Cobra and I give zero ****s if someone thinks it is "slow" because no matter how "fast" they think they are, there is always someone else faster.

I'm in my 30's with a wife and kids, I'm not interested in being the fastest guy on the street these days. I bought my car to cruise around on back country roads, drive to the beach, the mountains, leisure trips mostly. I like to get on it to hear the exhaust and have some fun, but I don't race anymore because I want my kids to grow up with me in their lives.

It is the perfect car for my needs and I enjoy it every time I drive it. A beautiful example of a car that I always admired as a youth.

If I ever encounter some dildo talking shit to me about my car, I will laugh in his ugly little face and call him a loser. It's never happened before but I guess it's always a possibility. How insecure does a hater have to be in order to think like this? It just doesn't compute.

Enjoy what you have and respect others who are different than you. If you don't, well life must be very difficult for you and I feel sorry for you.

SLAB = Slow, Loud and Bangin. No insecurities here friends, just a unique insight I thought I'd share. I dreamed my whole life to own a Cobra, and as soon as I could, I snatched one up. My dream is to make equal power as a stock Terminator on a N/A motor. Goals

Nothing wrong with wanting to do something unique. Everyone is so enthralled by cookie cutter builds these days, it’s a breath of fresh air to see something different.
Living in Houston, I’ve long given up on trying to be one of the “fast” guys. Down here unless you’re rocking 1,000whp+ you’re not even invited to the party. I’d much rather just have a build I enjoy these days, which I found with my basic ass Vette. Sounds like you found it with your Cobra, good on you!

youre saying it’s slower than a heavy nosed beast?
slowest of all the heavy nosed beasts...and ill handling too.

Ford panicked and dropped an iron block AND a supercharger into previously well designed car...nothing new tech about it.

Jay Leno had an interesting take around the 16 minute mark on enjoying "slower" Mustangs (in reference to the 2020 ecoboost)

No coincidence that Ford went back to the 4V DOHC Aluminum block model

OP, try owning a 96-98 Cobra. Everything you complain about is magnified 10X.

Be happy with what you have or sell it and find something else. I know my 97 vert is slow, that it handles rather poorly all things considered, that it REALLY IS one of the slowest Cobras made, that the "leather" interior is trash.

It's a drop top, makes a nice noise, can row gears, has a neat hood and front end, and looks pretty good lowered with big tires.

OK! I now need to win the lottery.

That is the problem with all these cars. When the GT500 first came out, I thought, WOW, I want that. Then the GT350R, and I really wanted that one. Now I see this 2020 GT500 and I want that. Where does it end? Never. Its like buying a computer, or smart phone. As soon as you "pull the trigger" then you find something newer that does more.

I still get a smile on my face each spring when I take my car out for that first drive of the year. Enjoy what you have. Don't worry about what others have. Someone will always have something newer, something fancier, or something faster.

And hopefully by next summer I'll have a new right hip and it won't hurt so much to push the third pedal down. Drive on guys and gals.
