Damnitt.....the last page of this thread just made me realize I’m in denial about being eligible for the base model Vette and gold chain club....

Oh well.....it was nice being young while it lasted.

My hero. I was thinking of something like this for the back.

View attachment 1604928

You know I woke up this morning with a sudden affinity for pastel wife beaters and yearning for a gold chain with a medallion.
Guys if I start looking at wooden dash kits or Greenwood spoilers please commit me to a re-education camp in Dearborn and put me in the Iaccoca suite.

Welcome to the club. You'll be receiving your starter kit containing a pair of New Balance, a bottle of little blue pills, a pair of dull scissors and instructions on how to make your first pair of Jorts, and brochure on how to invest in gold.

its a Ford SVT site, you have to rag on Chevy. Its an incredible car for the money for sure

I feel like the way the gt500 release has gone it has turned into a shit on ford site. And deservedly so.

That is one thing I like about ford guys - they keep it real. I dont know about chevy but I can say the dodge guys are delusional about hellcats and redeyes.

dodge guys are delusional about everything. Those guys are worse than Toyota fanboys about how great their shit is. I would get together with my people and we all had our brands and at the end of the arguing of who is the best we all agreed that dodge was junk and even the dodge guys agreed.

Lol. All the guidos used to have the stickers on their 5.0's, Z28 and trans-ams here in NY. They wore the t-shirts and tank tops too.
My HS had the 1993 Football team make it down to state. They adopted the Bad Boy logo as part of their team identity. They lost that year....

Of course those assholes went down down to state and WON the year after I graduated. ****ers.

Bro I hate to break the news to you. The Viper is overrated :D. I used to hang out with some hardcore Dodge guys who swore up and down the Ram with a Cummins was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The trucks would have 300,000+ miles and no body, but that truck was the cats ass

I love Challenger Hellcats and see them daily. Ive seen Demons and a widebody Redeye and would kill for either one. Dodge knows its fanbase is low IQ and they cater to that with those models.

562 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque from an N/A 6.2? Hmmmm
Ferrari was doing those numbers with a 4.5L, not the torque tho.

regarding the general motor trend article,
Maybe that c8 was a ringer? That specific car puts down more power than a c7 z06. so kinda hard to believe.
ALso, im not sure about a 15% drive train loss, mid engine cars have a different drive train loss compared to front engine rwd cars.

car and driver tested a c8 and regular c7 (both cars equipped with the z51 package). The c8 was .8/.9 seconds faster. If the car really does have more power than the c7z06, theres no way its only less then a second faster. That should be several seconds.

Its a transaxle, you can basically think of it like a FWD which is more in the 12% range, but 3% isn't going to give you that big of a difference.

The vette also isnt revving to 9k like the Ferrari, so getting mid 500s at the wheels, NA, through cats and a <7000 rpm redline is either some funky testing or one hell of a healthy motor. Motortrend showed that they covered their bases, I don't think it was any negligence on their part, but I'd be interested to see a few more dynos before this is taken as gospel.

While I don’t think their numbers are realistic, as in something is definitely amiss with that test, GM has severely handicapped factory LS engines for years. Tuning, a cam swap, and minor changes netting 100 additional hp is not unheard of...maybe the factory mill finally grew a pair and they quit leaving so much on the table.

I don't find it that surprising considering they have the car trapping 123+. You don't do that with a 3600lb car making 460whp, it's not possible. I have a feeling most customer cars will be around 540whp on a dynojet, kind of skewed with no real 1:1 ratio to dyno in though. Time will tell, either GM shipped cars to be tested with a boat load more timing thrown at them, and the customer cars will be slower, or they are very underrated. Power to weight is literally everything for trap speeds. DCT, manual, auto it doesn't matter. Maybe a 1-2 mph margin for driver mod in a manual or an insane trans like in a Porsche.

C7Z06 traps 127 with 570whp and 3550lbs,
C7ZR1 traps 133 with 670whp and 3600lbs,
New Ford GT traps 131ish with 590whp and 3300lbs,
13/14 GT500 traps 125 with 590+whp and 3800lbs.
ET-MPH-HP Calculator (I would say ignore the comment it has about "driver in car on the line". The numbers are dead on if you just put in curb weight and dynojet whp numbers.)

**the above calc also worked for my daily. 3550lb(without me) Paxton 3v, with 450-460whp trapped 116-117.

Plug in 3600lbs (WET weight) for the C8, and 540whp, and boom, traps 123. The DCT may be a crazy anomaly in all this, gaining it a few mph. But unlikely, as the new Ford GT has DCT and does not gain any trap speed over it's calculation above.

Edit** Dodge does the same thing with the Hellcats. 640-660whp in some cases. That translates to roughly 770 flywheel hp. Not 707.

Was this the vette at 11.1?
I thought the 495 it’s rated at was strictly regulated? If it is all power plants need to fall within a certain range of its 495 rating. Maybe @GTSpartan can shed more light on this...
Read the whole article, they give explanations given by the engineers.

Essentially, the SAE tests are far from just a simple pull, they are at the peak heat and load. When cold its way above its SAE rating.

This obviously doesn't even come close to passing the straight-face test. By MT calculations, the LT2 has a specific output of 106 Hp/L. That is so far out of the realm of reality for an OHV, fully emission compliant engine.

Just another data point for all the dyno queen lovers out there that chassis measuring systems are completely unreliable at accurately measuring engine output.

There is nothing unrealistic about it. Look at the 1/4mile and trap speed. Look at the potential LS based motors have in the aftermarket. Its likely closer to its 495hp rating when running at the limit.

We shall see when owners get them. The Zupra is putting down far more power than rated as well.
