I saw that this morning. USAA sent it to me. The only issue I have is that the carfax shows 3 owners? Why did so many people go through that car in such a short time?

1st owner, in NY, 2 years 9 months. Bought 5/13, first oil change at 3/14 w/762 miles, next oil change 3/15 w/1498 miles, next oil change at 3/16 w/1889 miles and then sold on 4/16 with 1903 miles

2nd owner, bought it from NY at 9/16 with 2010 miles and took it to GA. Another oil change at 1/17 w/3838 miles. Sold it on 1/17 w/3840 miles. He only had it for 4 months and put on 1830 miles. New York to GA is about 930 miles so they really only put 900 miles in 4 months and got rid of the car.

Last owner bought it from GA and took it to MD. GA to MD is about 721 miles. He owned since 3/3/17 with 3909 miles. Another oil change on 9/17 w/4997 miles and he did a final service on 4/18 at 5301 miles. After that, the car shows up for sale at Toyota with 6222 miles on 10/19

Now, I had an OASIS run at the dealership. On the 3/2015 oil change with the first owner, there was some work done on it that was put under a P11 code at the service department. It was explained to me that code is used when FoMoCo pays for service on the car. They couldn't find the work but I was told that the windshield was replaced for stress cracks within the 12 months/12K miles warranty. That might have been it.

It also had 2 complaints to FoMoCo by the first owner and the last owner has an open complaint. They couldn't see what the complaints were.

The car has had regular service at the Ford Dealerships in every state and it's fully optioned out. It has everything, PP/TP/Recaros, EP/Nav/Shaker/Glass roof. It's a DIB with white stripes.

The guys at the Ford dealership said to stop stressing about the history of the car. There is nothing major showing up and the owners could just be people who got on the next best thing.

I see 3 mods, some non-factory intake tube, a blue engine filter and hood struts.

I see a Ford PremiumCare warranty with roadside until 3/2020

I'm trying to track down the last owner to see if he had any issues or why he got rid of it.

My wife likes it better than Grabber since it's a more subdued color and it matches the Mystichrome better than the Grabber.

Does anyone know what company makes this intake? I’m guessing the filter is a blue AirAid.

Nobody can accuse you of not doing your homework on the cars in which you're interested! FWIW, I don't blame you for having a little skeptcism regarding the number of owners and complaints to FoMoCo. That said, the facts that there don't appear to have been any major problems and that the car is still covered by a Ford warranty both mitigate those concerns. Also, the Ford guys are right, in that many owners of this type car move in and out of them every couple of years, when the next new and shiny one comes along. Talking with previous owner(s) is usually a good idea, but not always easy to do. Your wife has good taste - DIB is a great color that is more complementary to your Cobra's Mystichrome.

That's a (now discontinued) Ford Racing Resonator Delete, that doesn't require a tune to run. (Pretty sure the P/N was M-9B659-MSVT.) I ran JLT's (also discontinued) CF version before upgrading to their 127mm CF and a tune, so I can't speak to the specifics of Ford's, but a lot of guys ran/run them. @tomshep's thread on his is located at https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/ford-racing-resonator-delete-install-w-pics.987853/.

thanks for all the advice. I had a friend go check it out and the hood struts and filter are from Shelby. The filter, struts and intake are the only mods. The car is sitting in their showroom and he said it looks flawless. They didn’t let him drive or start it but I would guess it’s probably in good condition considering the prior owners did so much maintenance on it. The car wasn’t traded in at Toyota, it was traded in at a sister dealership in their Heritage/MileOne Auto Group. I have the prior owner’s name, number and address. I called and left a message and I’ll see what he had to say. I also have the first owner’s name and phone but I don’t think I’ll call him. He hasn’t had the car for a while so I don’t think it’ll matter.

Thanks again to everyone for the help in finding this car and answering all my questions and providing advice.

I’d have no issue with that car. Lots of guys buy these cars and only have them for a short time with low mileage use. Sounds like more of a garage queen/show car with those miles and mods.
If the paint and interior are mint, I’d go for it.
A mint glass roof Recaro car is a find.
In this case, you have all options, and that fits guys who tend to sample the best for short periods and move on.
If it were me, I’d buy it, remove the stripes, paint correction with ceramic coating. 4.10s, Lund tune, Nitto 305 555Rs and rock out!
It’d be the perfect compliment to your MC coupe!
I’m still a buyer if your Cobra is on market :)

I just got off the phone with the prior owner. He’s an enthusiast around my age, mid 40’s. He had an 09 and was searching for a 14 and happened upon this a couple of years ago and bought it. Car was bone stock when he got it and had the Shelby hood struts, Shelby air filter, FRPP Resonator Delete and Corsa axle back exhaust added at the Ford dealership. Car has been garage kept under his watch, washed every week, etc. He regrets selling it but life happened and it has to go. He wanted to keep it forever. He said car never gave him any problems and was a great car. Never drove it under 50 degrees weather and no rain, salt, snow, etc. He constantly washed and waxed it and really took care of the car. No paint issues, etc. He said he’s pretty sure the other owners took care of it too because he went over it with a fine tooth comb and saw no issues. It’s all original except for the parts he changed and he still has the original parts that he’ll ship to me.

Thanks again everyone.

He still had the old exhaust, resonator and hood prop. He can ship them to me. What do you guys rethink I should offer him for the stock stuff?

Did you buy the car? I do not see it listed now at the Dealership.

I emailed them a funding document from USAA. It's not exactly a deposit but it's close enough to it. I'm gonna fly down and see the car. If it all goes OK, then I'll sign a purchase order and they can send the PO and the funding doc to USAA so I could buy the car.

I think it should be all OK. I got a good feeling from the prior owner. He really knew about the car. He was telling me to get Bob's catch can (he was going to do it but sold the car), not to drive the car in under 50 degree weather, etc. We were on the phone for over an hour just talking about the car and his plans for it until he had a problem with his truck, his primary means of transportation, and had to get rid of it. He couldn't daily drive the Shelby so he traded it in for a new Toyota truck. He didn't want to get rid of it but couldn't afford 2 car payments, especially for a car not being driven.

See what he wants for it. If it were me, I'd have no use for them, if I no longer owned the car. I have all my old parts and intend to let them go with the car, if I ever get to that point.

This. If I'm the old owner, I wouldn't charge anything but the shipping fees. Why hang onto the parts.

Yeah, I’ll see what he wants. At the end of the day, it’s just the resonator tube, hood prop and exhaust. I can always find those parts on eBay or the marketplace here.

Why anyone would install that muffler shaped CAI tube back on the car is beyond me. The mufflers can be useful if you ever get rid of the cats.
