What should I pay for a clean coupe?

Found two 2003 Cobra coupes and looking to buy one. Well cared for cars, less than 15,000 miles. Both are mildly modded with exhaust, pulley and shifter. For both cars I'd be the 3rd owner.

One is a 10th anniversary coupe the other is a SB coupe.

I understand price is whatever someone is willing to pay. I want to pay a fair price for both the seller and I but if they are asking too much, I'll walk. I'm thinking 28k-30k is a fair price for either car? They may want more so what is fair?

Im paying 26k for a 21k mile SB coupe with a KB.

I'd rate its cleanliness a 9/10.

Not an exact comparison to what you are looking at but itll give you a ball park.

I'd say 28-30k is fair if everything checks out.

I would agree with NateDogg and I would add that the Cobra would have to be primo and that is hard to find these days.

They are tough to find so I want to pay up but don't want to overpay or pay a unrealistic price.

I'm hoping to be an owner soon but don't want to let that cloud my judgement.

High 20s/low 30s is a good target, hopefully you can get one in that range. Sonic Blue is a popular color and the 10th Anniversary is more than just a color. It was one of two Terminator “package cars” with the special interior. If the price and condition were about equal for both cars, I’d go for the 10th car if it was red.

You never mentioned if it was red, black or silver...? That would be my personal color preference order.

I know the anniversary is "special ". I personally don't care for the styling and I have not seen them go for more money, but SB go for more even though it's just a great color

So the two above are no gos. The sellers are staying firm at 32k and 32.5k.

My next option is working on a zinc yellow one owner, low mileage for 30k. Zinc isn't my favorite color but it's a nice car. Being that zinc isn't a popular or loved color, what is a fair offer for a clean low mile zinc cobra?

I agree. Wait for the color you like.

Winter is coming prices will be coming down.

I also wouldnt hesitated to pay an extra couple grand if it's the right car.

The car I bought was advertised at 23.5k. Went out made a deal with the guy for 23.5..

He messages me later saying he cant do it and wants 26k now LOL.

whatever.. i guess a couple grand is worth more than his word.

I still bought it because it was clean and local. I figured I'd spend the same amount flying out to look another one in similar condition.

Point is... it was a couple more grand than I expected to pay but it was worth it because it was the right color..right mileage..right location..

Good luck with your search

That seller did some scumbag stuff but I agree with you, at the end of the day, don’t let a few dollars get between you and your car. It’s getting harder to find what you want nowadays and if you like it, someone else will too.

For the Mystichrome, the seller advertised it at $35K. Someone offered him $30K and that guy didn’t want to budge off that price. He eventually called me and told me $31K and it’s mine. I agreed and picked it up that weekend. The other guy messaged me when he saw me post pics of the car and told me the story. He said if he knew there was someone else, he would not have negotiated so hard and just bought the car instead of fighting over $1K.

Good advice,I think I'll pass on the yellow and wait awhile longer. Im willing to pay up but want the seller and buy to feel good about the deal. I won't over pay though. Right now, we are $3.5k apart and seems it's staying that way. I started the thread to ensure I was making good market offers which it sounds like I am. I appreciate the insight.

I think the 31k you paid for a mystichrome if it has low miles is pretty fair!

Thanks. It had 14.5K miles and I would have rather paid 29-30K for it but the way the market is right now, it's hard to find a good one that hasn't been beaten up.

$32.5k for a SB with under 15,000 miles is about right. I would not let a few grand stop me of the car is right. It’s a sellers market on the clean low mile examples in the right color

$3k on a $30k car is only 10% (yes I know... duh). My point is that you are very close. Dont walk on the "right" car, for you, over 10%. You do have to keep other factors in mind, like, transport costs, either paying for a PPI or flying (or driving) to go inspect your self etc.
