On the road to go look at a 2011-2012 GT500. Are their any issues I should be concerned about and look into prior to purchase? Not new to Mustangs, but new to the GT500. Always wanted a supercharged car and today I might just finally own one.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Well about 20 min out from looking and maybe buying one tonight. Anybody got any thoughts, concerns, or things I should look at?

Well I picked one up tonight so hope all is well. Clutch felt heavy and let out at the top which I think is pretty normal right?

The two pulls I did on test drove which were traction less due to cold temps outside felt good. 1-2 didn’t grind, but wasn’t shifting super fast just normal 1-2 decently fast.

I don’t seem to have a grind in the few 1-2 gear pulls I did today. Although still wasn’t speed shifting or banging gears as still getting used to car and as well cold temps...

Clutch feels like it gets heavier at higher RPM shifts. The higher the shift the stiffer it feels. Is this normal?

Regarding the clutch feel, I don’t have that feeling on my 12. I’m on a stock clutch at 6500 miles. It does release near the top but not fully. It seems consistent through the entire RPM’s?

Did you ask the seller if they changed the clutch? I will also say the MGW fixed my shifts along with some Amsoil ATF. Even if you don’t grind it will really make the shifts way better.

Yeah, stock clutch is meh. A good option for an upgrade is the 13-14 factory clutch assy. About half the cost of a McLeod RXT or Mantic etc. Ive got an RXT and its good, but doesnt blow me away for feel. Thats with a McLeod steel clutch line too.

If its got the stock Goodyear G2s on, get rid of them. Complete garbage for a street car. Its like driving on ice on even reasonable warm days. I only ever had any kind of real "grip" when I visited Phoenix in the summer.

Hoping to get a year or two out of this clutch. Ha

It’s got brand new Nitto NT555 G2’s on all around actually. I used to be a big Nitto fan until I put Pilot Sport 4S on my other car. That’s what will likely go on the GT500 next.

I do notice an annoying gear whine from around 60-85ish. Very annoying, but from what I read very common and no real permanent fix.

Pictures of the diff or what?

From google searching and YouTube searches I find lots of talk and videos of the gear whine on these cars that is just like what I am experiencing.

Here is one. I didn’t know what you meant. Sorry. I figured you were asking to see pics of clutch and diff to figure out if it wasn’t stock. Was going to say don’t plan on opening either up to check. Haha Nothing would lead me to believe it is not stock as the car was only ever serviced at 1 dealer for everything it’s entire life and it’s the dealer I bought it from.

Thats a DOPE color combo. I love my Race Red, but Silver or Gray with the Red stripe is easily my second favorite color combo.

Yeah, gear whine is what it is. FWIW, my FRPP 4.10s are actually kinda quite. It still makes a whine when I have my rod end suspension installed. But, its a lot better than the 3.73s

Yes I like the grabber blue and race red, but when I saw silver for the first time a couple years ago I was like wow that pops. Then what you know I ended up with one without trying. I never buy based on color as I always look for the best overall deal.

Yeah owned a few mustangs and have felt with the issues over the many years. This one has both the rear end whine and rear in grind sounds. Never had them at the same time before. The 2013 Boss 302 had the grind sound, but not the whine. When I say grind I mean as most my passengers call it the “do you hear something like water running” sound. Ha I say it sounds more like a constant shhhhhhhbhhhh.

Wow, I like that color! Never imagined red would work but wow, it sure does!
With your nitro tires, they may(will) suck in the wet. A great bang for the buck compared to the pilots would be the toyo r888. Congrats on the new purchase! Enjoy!
Oh, did you say how many miles on it?

Congratulations on your new ride!!! Same Colour combo as mine nice pick .

First mod I would do would be a good set of tires and get that stock shifter out of there, but if you do any bolt on parts, like a pulley, intake, throttle body, I would get that stock clutch out of there also.

I started with full bolt ons basically and the stock clutch didn’t last no time.

but all in all you well enjoy your new ride!!!!
