Hit a raccoon while visiting my parents. Ontario requires a police report of it's over $2000, and had to be reported in the area the accident occurred. Problem is i have no clue if it's over $2000.... Any one have any clue if this looks like over $2k, before paint?

Thanks

I dont know Canadian law, but unless you are going to file an insurance claim I sure would not report it. Dont think you would be breaking a law since no other vehicle was involved.

I wouldn’t think that’s even $1000 worth of damage. Unless there is some underbody damage, a new bumper is around $400 and painting it should be over $2-300. The splitter as well should be $2-300 as well.

It also appears you should be getting some new tires sooner than later seeing how you can’t even see the wear indicators anymore.

I wonder if he had tires with tread if he would've been able to avoid the raccoon in the rain

In all seriousness, my mind would be blown if that amounted to more than $1,999.99

I know braking distance is greatly impacted by tires so it’s possible. Not going to jump to any conclusions though.

My first thought would be to torture the raccoon to death if it lived!

Totally agree with all this except for the splitter.
It looks fine its just the bumper mount points that got pulled out. I bet with a new bumper that splitter will bolt back in without any issue. Only other thing that maybe we can't see is there is a bumper support bracket right under the headlight that the side of the bumper snaps into and the inner fender liner bolts to. It's very easy to replace with the bumper off and only $20-40 part so not expensive.

I bought that bracket from rock auto for my 2011 GT for $4 or so and shipping.

I’m not sure if the splitter is attached to the actually plastic under the bumper but that’s another part that could be damaged.
