Before I tell this story my mods are CARB Certified Araid CAI, H-Pipe (stock cats), Axel Back, BBK 90mm throttle body, throttle body spacer, E85 BAMA Tune (revised like 4 times lol) and stock 3:73 gears on a 2011 Mustang 5.0 Premium W/Brembo. I want to know what you guys think happened here. You probably can guess where this one is going.

Okay so the other night I was driving home and I see a set of tail lights tailgating me on the access ramp in Mexico, It being two lane merge I let him go around me, but as he goes around I hear the sound of a modified LS motor blow by me. I decide to drop to 3rd about 50 and chase it down. He begins weaving so I give up (not my thing). Somehow I end up catching up to him without really trying, pull next to him, and asked for a run. He says “You’re car is not worth my time. I have over 700 horsepower.”

Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight you’re initiating a race (chase) but when I’m now lined up with you you’re too good for Lucille? In fact, who even says that? I think it was kind of a rude thing to say and it rubbed me the wrong way. So I straight lied to him and said I have 520 to the wheels lmao! He slows to 35 and so do I and down shift to second. When he drops down (automatic) his supercharger was so effing loud it drowned out my almost FBO exhaust (stock headers and cats). And I thought to myself “Oh crap.... What did I get myself into?”
So we take off and something surprising happens. Through all of second and by the time I shift into third and he couldn’t pass me. In fact I’m a half car length ahead. As I approach forth I can hear that thing screaming like a V from hell but he still can’t catch me. Once I was at about 6000rpm in 3rd I knew I would have held him off in 4th as well (you guys with experience know that feeling, you just stronger than the other car) But unfortunately I shifted above 7000rpm like an idiot and it locked me out. But point is Lucille was worth his time. Lol.

So what do you guys think? There’s a few explanation to what happened here. And I would love your insight.

Here’s some options haha

a.) He doesn’t have 700hp (my first thought)

b.) He was playing with me. (Doubt it considering the surprised look on his face and hearing that loud ass supercharger)

c.) Lucille (my car) is actually secretly alive, heard what he said about being a waste of time, and she demanded he put some “Ruspeck” on her name.

d.) Somehow my car reacted to the mods incredibly well and have an unusually high power output. (Same outcome in Mexico with a 2012 Porsche 911 turbo (11.4 1/4 124mph)).

e.) Other.

Unfortunately you may get eaten alive here with no video. Don’t get me wrong I love hearing stories of GM products getting their asses dragged or handed to them. Loved the story! Good luck!

Assuming all of your facts are correct, I tend to go with (A). He could have over stated his horsepower. But we'll never know. So just take delight in knowing you did more than hang with him. What happened at the end of the run? Did he just disappear? Did he give you a thumbs-up?

You’re right I should have said what happened at the end. He was getting off the free way and I looked at him and he gave me the hang loose version of a thumbs up. I did it back Lol. I think he was over stating his power also personally. I mean it was definitely fast and the supercharger was incredibly loud but 700hp seems like a bit much. Unless somehow BAMA figured out away to turn a Mustang into a Super Car which I doubt. Hahah.

Caddy is also lugging around another 400-500 lbs. too
That is true.. honestly I do need to get dynoed also. My set up isn’t one I’ve seen before. Okay that’s a lie it’s very common, however every part I have on my car is legal in the state of California, which I’ve never seen. Lol. I didn’t get the widest exhaust, but instead mix between 3inches and 2.75. Possibly a good scavenging effect? Plus larger injectors for the E85 and wide a$$ throttle body? Computer adding much more fuel to match that air flow? (=hp) Also car being closer to what it’s used to doing so reacts differently? Maybe we can give her some credit? Or maybe dude was just lying. Hahahaha

Just a friendly bit of horsepower info if you will. We all here make the “aftermarket” high performance retailers plenty of money. With all due respect, ditch the 90mm TB and spacer. Put the stock TB back on, order a Lund tune or drive north to Murrieta and have the car dyno tuned at Cunningham Motorsports. The drive ability will be much much better, you will get more torque back. That’s not including the tune, which will add more power, Ryan Cunningham knows his shit! What I have said isn’t from what I have read here. I know it first all first hand! Just trying to pass along my waste of money and time. Welcome to the forum club! The majority of the gents here know their shit! More than me! Only trying to make mo powwwaaa!

I have a stock 18 ctsv and doubt a fairly stock mustang would leave that car from a thirty roll. Not saying it can't happen but it doesn't feel like it. I haven't had the car long so it is untested at this point. Good kill either way.

A few years ago a friend let me drive his CTS-V when my GT was still stock. I was impressed, felt like it just might be quicker than me. I'm way beyond stock now but he's nowhere to be found.

Trust me it definitely wasn’t the 650hp 18 model. I think it was a 2012. Lol.
