Any idea on time frame?

Goal is to have a prototype for a fellow member here before end of year. Hopefully sooner, but end of year seems realistic given the delays we have faced thus far.

This post is to keep other members informed about my project to build replica 2000R fuel tank and to understand how many owners would be seriously interested in purchasing one.

I've been working with a semi-local friend/source, and another member, for the past months to replicate a fuel tank for our 2000 R's that looks identical to the OEM fuel cell.

The tank will most likely have the 03/04 Cobra baffling. The existing flanges from the fuel cell will transfer onto the replica. It will have less weld joints than the cell to strengthen the tank. Powder coating will also be available to make it ready to install when it arrives.

The big question I'm sure all will have is what is the pricing.. This will depend on how many people go in on this. It will be less than the $2,600 bladder replacement, but how much lower depends on the volume.
I am the owner of #299 2000R. I would be a buyer. My cell just started dripping. [email protected]

Sorry to hear you have a leak!

We are getting closer! Parts are cut for the prototype and mock-up has begun.

Has anyone looked into a comparable bolt in one with a bladder that can be replaced regularly if you race the car? Seems like a lot of us would buy that if it came in at a reasonable price point. I've replaced the bladder on my 95 once, and would expect to again before too long, but I still want to track the car.

Check with Pyrotect. The owner of the company founded FuelSafe, I believe. Last time I checked with them, they could do a new bladder for about half of what FuelSafe charged.

@DAVESVT2000 bought the whole thing, was something like $1800(?). Good for another 10 years.

yes, I bought an entire new tank, bladder, everything two years ago from Fuel Safe.

wanted to do the quickest easiest swap possible. Went well except.... they forgot to send me the gasket for filler neck to the tank, had no choice but to put it together with old gasket.

Put it on the ground, filled it up with gas, and it leaked, bad from the neck.

called fuel safe, they sent me new gasket no problem, but could only put half a tank of gas in until we dropped the entire tank and redid the whole job just to put a gasket on.

It’s fine now, but the whole thing was a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the input. I figure to finally get my car back on the track this year, and i won't be surprised if mine does like all the others
