Good that you have a plan in place that is working for you. Keep us posted.
Honestly, that sounds like its coming from a bad pulley bearing or internal to the Supercharger. Hard to say with it just being video and not hearing it in person, but thats exactly what that sounds like to me.Well, I think my 2013 with only 4100 miles is hurt. Not sure how or why, but something sounds off. I came back from a leisurely cruise and when I pulled in the garage I noticed a noise. If anyone has any advice here or speculation as to what this might be, please let me know!
Here's a couple video clips of the noise. In this first video, behind the injector noise, you can hear the sound. It seems like a tapping noise. This was the morning after I noticed the sound...I warmed up the car to 180 degrees ECT and this is what it sounds like:
The night before when I first noticed the noise, it was way more pronounced (the engine was also closer to 200deg ECT). There was the knocking type noise, but also what almost seemed like a grinding noise. It definitely doesn't sound like it's coming from the supercharger or a pulley.
I'm going to take it to a shop, but my spidey senses tell me that it's hurt and will need to be opened up. What do you guys think?
Perhaps I have a good excuse for a built motor, but maybe it's a simple fix? Also, do you think the car sounds ok enough to drive to a shop (not a long trip)...it seems to drive fine, just has that engine noise.
p.s. if anyone knows any good shops around Oklahoma, let me know. I'm open to any advice at this point. Cheers.
My 08 GT500 was the same exact way, if I ran anything but a OEM filter I would get a engine tick at idleHonestly, that sounds like its coming from a bad pulley bearing or internal to the Supercharger. My 2011 is very picky on oil filters. I have run primarily the tried and true FL-820S. I tried an AMSoil filter on my car one time. Drove home after changing the oil. Stopped for food and noticed a tick from the engine. "Oh HELL to the no..." Next day had an FL-820S brought to the shop and changed the filter back. No issues since.

Ive got a Trinity/FRPP oil pump assy waiting to go into my engine along with a set of Accufab tool steel OPGs. I sure hope that will be enough to keep the lash adjusters full and happy.Just for reference my 5.4 makes a tick at idle on very hot days after its been driven around for a while. The tick will increase with RPM but around 1,500 the tick goes away and its just smooth motor sound. I isolated the tick to the passenger side, took the valve cover off and inspected all the valves, springs, lash adjusters and followers, all looked normal. Many 5.4/5.8 people have this tick and not had any issues and things like changing oil weight or oil filters brands have helped. Mine is still around and I've just learned to live with it.
It would seem a lot of Ford engines suffer from ticking noises, if you ever read the coyote gen 1, 2 and 3 forums there are tons of engine tick threads, with most being taken to Ford and Ford saying it's normal.
I think if you're doing cams with your new engine build you'll probably never hear the lash adjusters making any noise again.Ive got a Trinity/FRPP oil pump assy waiting to go into my engine along with a set of Accufab tool steel OPGs.
