He is one of the main guys responsible for all of the record Hondas from Speedfactory I believe. I used to see him at the track working with them when they were running their cars.

I thought it was very interesting, I wanted to share the video. I can't believe even after owning a BMW how complicated these motors are and if the maintenance will require the E46 and present maintenance on valve lash and such. I just wanted to post this so ford doesn't do this to the mustang

He is a legit bad ass, no doubt about it.

The valve train on this motor is ridiculous. Not a good time lol.

What BMW engine post M52, besides the S54 and euro spec S50B30&32, requires adjusting valve lash? The S54 has solid lifters because it revs so damn high and they wanted to avoid valve float issues. Every other engine from the M52 til current uses hydraulic roller lifters.

The B58 is a stout performing engine. Yes they're complicated, but welcome to current year. I mean these engines have variable cam timing + valvetronic, which means these cars don't use a throttle body. The intake valves are variable which control air flow and throttle. The TB you see on these engines are in place as a fail safe only, normally they're 100% open.

Despite all the "inspiration" Ford has had from BMW, I don't expect them to make a twin scroll turbo straight 6 anytime soon.

Hopefully this engine will be more durable than the 4 cylinders. I see the continuation of the special tool fiasco, doesn’t surprise me. Dude seems to know what he’s do which is good. Can’t believe they haven’t 2JZ swapped it yet.

Daigo Saito actually did that on his new 2020 Supra drift car. Toyota and HKS actually worked with him to do it too.
