Removed the EGR on my 03 cobra. Previous owner had it tuned using a SCT Excalibrator but removed the EGR after the tune.

Looking for a tune to get my Check Engine Light off. Basic mods of 4# lower, smaller upper (have to check size), Makes 16.5-17lbs of boost, larger injectors, mass air, cold air kit, etc.

I do have the old SCT Excalibrator with the old tunes if that will help, but I have no idea how to transfer them from that unit.

Thanks in advance!

You do know there are 3 very knowledgeable mustang tuners within 40 miles of you? One is literally in your back yard. I don't think any of those guys will pull your old tune from your handheld though and modify it, but it's worth giving them a call. You'll need to send your handheld or PCM to whoever you choose so they can extract your tune.

I know of Dean's Performance. Who else do you know of/recommend?

Kurgan does the tuning for Hans. I use Hans' dyno, but I don't use Kurgan for tuning. Brandon at Geared Up Motorsports in New Lenox. Joe at AJ Performance Machine in Sycamore. Mike at DynotuneMP in Hampshire.

Thank you. I messaged each of them. Hope to hear something back.
Have you received a message back from 04Sleeper? I am currently getting tuned by him but he went M.I.A. on me at the end of August and haven't heard from him since. I emailed him and messaged him on here but have got nothing. Anyone know if he's alright?

Oh, and Decipha is also a great tuner that knows what he is doing. I talked to him a bit after I was having issues and with my tune. Real good guy.

Hope you guys realize that the USEPA and The California CARB board are going after tuners at the small shop level. The CA people are going after out-of-state people who tune CA vehicles or sell them non-CARB parts. I know of a bunch of pretty small shops that got nailed with >$100k fines for deleting emissions controls. Any tuner who will do that now either has not heard this is happening or has extra money to pay the fines, or thinks it will not happen to them. Good luck with this - we sure will not delete any emissions equipment. And we only sell books to CA people, no tunes or parts.

Will we lose the ability to change emissions parameters on our PRP’s? I checked mine and I still see the emissions parameters available and I can change them.

Its only illegal to disable or defeat emissions controls. So long as you dont do either you have nothing to worry about.

Go ahead and ask me how I know.

The land of commies and socialists!
I know autoanything and Jegs were both fined north of one million for selling non CARB approved parts. What I don't understand is how they were not only able prove that they sold the parts to CA residents but also how they proved the parts were used on vehicles that were on the road. I would also like to know how they are tracking down some of these small out of state shops? Are companies like SCT handing over business information to CARB and the EPA?

EGR deleted vehicle, doesn't that fall under that for a tuner: if he or she's touching that vehicle, knowing emission has been tampered with?
What I was told but all he/she said story.
