Car checked out and I pulled the trigger! Super happy. Payed a little more than I wanted but still think I got a great deal.

Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions!

So I got to drive the car for a little and there are a few things wrong.
1. There is some clear coat fading on the rear spoiler (about 7 inches wide approx.)
2. The roof has some minor bubbling happening.
3. The front speakers are blown to crap.
4. There is a brake light and ABS INOP light that comes on going down the highway but turns off if you restart the car. The previous owner said its from the big rear tires?
5. A slight rattle under the car during WOT. Sounds like it might be the heat shield around the cat if there even is one.

Everything else is pretty solid, transmission feels good, engine runs smooth. Needs a little TLC but I plan on doing some mods so that's not really an issue. I'll say that the power surprised me, runs way better than my terminator (jk jk).

1. That is normal for those cars unfortunately. I had one with the same problem. The clear coat sucks from the factory.

2. Also normal. It’s from the glue used to hold down the sail panel. Some cars had it worse than others. Only way to fix it is to replace it.

3. The stock speakers suck.

4. Possibly

5. Could be the tunnel brace rubbing on the exhaust. I don’t know if it has an aftermarket exhaust but usually the pos stock tunnel brace will rub on the exhaust when it’s replaced. Most people just remove it or buy an aftermarket one.

I had a 2000 SS and loved it. IMO one of the cheapest cars to maintain and modify. The interior rattles like crazy but you can’t beat the performance for the price.

You bought good OP. Those cars are at their bottom. As for the issues, they always needed something. Make sure you get the radio code, make sure you address the VATS. Be easy on the rear, it's made out of glass.
Other than that if you really want to wake it up do a cam, intake and gears. Good luck!

Nice grab! The roof thing was very common on that year, its a material problem, as in body parts were not properly prepped by GM and or were contaminated. You can have it sanded and repainted, but there is a chance it will pop up again years down the road. Regarding the ABS I doubt its the tires, wheels...I have huge ****ing Fikse FM5s with 315s and no problems. Check the ABS wiring that runs to the rear wheel sensors...it runs close to rear sway bar and axle, its possible that its made contact and insulation has been stripped, grounding out. Regarding the rattle underneath, theres a stupid flimsy brace just past the y-pipe merge, its possible that is causing it...yank it, not needed.

Congrats OP!

The rattle is most likely exhaust hitting on heat shield, etc., and the larger diameter tires in the rear can cause the ABS to shut off. A gear correction in the ECU should fix that.

That’s insane, I’d pay a premium for a clean low mile terminator, but no ****ing way would I pay anything approaching that for an fbody. With exceptions to firehawks, just don’t see the others being rare, collectible.
