Glad the 5.0 will be there...nothing wrong the eco but I just prefer the 5.0...its a mental thing for me...truck equals V8 or gtfo at my house

I do know my current 5.0 made my old 5.4 look like a bitch in all aspects

Out of the 2.7,3.5, 5.0 the 2.7 has given us the least amount of issues. (ford mechanic of 9 years). Obviously its been out for less time. But seems to be very reliable, great power and amazing fuel mileage.

My next truck will have a 2.7.

What’s the deal with synthetic oil changes going 10k or 12k or 20k miles before needing a change. These are the recommended ratings now for certain engine oil combinations. Too long?
I don’t play that game. 5k max. Yes, the oil now is great. I’m doing amazon 5-30 in my little ecoboom.
I was always a 3k guy at one point .

With a good full synthetic i dont see a problem going 10k miles on the small 4 cylinder EB cars. I use mobil 1 EP on my fusion and do close to 10k oil changes.

For the trucks a say a good full synthetic with 5000-7500 oil changes

I did see that gm is at least giving some more options to get the 6.2L but they still wont let you do a complete build to order truck. You still have a get mid grade package to start in order to even option the 6.2L i dont see why they just dont allow you to add the engine to there entire line up. It seems the demand is there but there so focused on pushing this new crappy 4 cylinder turbo in a truck.

My buddy had an OG 6.2 back when it first came out in a basic truck. That was 2013 before word got around what that sucker was. At the time it was a limited production option and up until recently it stayed that way.

Mine run full synthetic and I usually do it at 5800-6500 depending on what the oil life meter is showing. For whatever reason right at 5800 it usually hits 10%.

I had a 07 with the 3V 5.4. It was a great truck engine, not so much on performance. I put a 120k miles on it, never had any issues with it. I changed the oil every 4k miles and did upgrade the plugs at 75k miles. I traded it in on a new 5.0 F150 in 2017 and I like the 5.0 much better. Its still a great truck engine but this engine has some performance DNA in it. No contest against the old 5.4. I drove a 3.5 EB before I bought mine and they are very impressive. If I towed a lot, I would have gone that route but I rarely tow anything and Im a V8 guy so the 5.0 is perfect for buyers like me. My dad got a new 2.7 and you cant beat that little engine either. Hard to go wrong with either EB or 5.0. I dont see the point in the 3.0 powerstroke diesel in the F150 though. Gas is cheap and the EB motors make diesel like torque in a more simplistic package for less money. I wouldnt be surprised if Ford dumped this option pretty soon.

Nissan already dumped the Cummins in the Titan after one year. Ford is expanding what trims you can get get the PS in the F150 this year but also had to give incentives to get rid of ones from last year. It wouldn’t surprise me either if they got rid of it in the F150 but who knows with the Ram and GM also having a Fidel option in there trucks.

The diesel is a niche buy IMO.

You'll be limited by the 1500 capacities for towing. And whatever MPG gains you see with diesel will probably be overshadowed by the cost at the pump and extra maintenance costs.

should kill the baby diesel in the F-150 once they get an electric truck ready.

I have customers with 3V motors who have a 100-200k miles on them and they change the oil religiously using only certain oils and filters and they dont have a single tick when it runs.

I traded in my '04 F-150 with the 3V 5.4 at 220k miles. Never had an issue.

My new truck is a '15 F-150 Platinum w/3.5 Eco and there are two things I can't get over:
1) Crazy torque throughout the RPM band; and
2) Ridiculously good MPG

I was one of those guys that really wanted a V8, but after the test drive, I was sold.

Now I want the Gen II 3.5 Eco w/10 speed auto - that thing has to be a beast.

The I-6 diesel in the GM trucks is interesting.

That 10 speed is the cats ass once it learns your driving habits. I have the little 2.7 and it moves the hell out for a full size truck.

The fuel economy of the 2.7 with the 10 speed is so good it's almost asinine.

My buddy has one as a county work truck, and so does my MIL. Both crew cab, 4x4, my mother in law has done 26.3 hand calculated and my buddy just barely over 27 (highway obviously).

That's what my RS did.

It makes the 3.0PSD option seem a bit silly by comparison.

I traded my '13 Ecoboost for a leftover '18 5.0 back in April. The Ecoboost had 84k. Of the issues I had, changed the plugs at 55k and the truck ran better. The water pump and heater hose died at 74k, and had to have the turbo coolant fitting o-rings changed at 80k. I have 10k on my 5.0 and I like it.

I did drive a 2.7 Lariat with a 3.31 gear and wasn't disappointed. the '13 had a 3.55 and the current truck has a 3.31 also.
