Do Hawaiian vehicles suffer from salt air rusting too? Get under that thing and inspect it hard. I also didn't like the look of the passenger floor mat. Looks like it has been flooded out.

No matter what, at that price, if it is legit, go over that car with a fine tooth comb. If it is rust free and everything is straight, that is a killer deal for a real SS. Be sure to check the RPO codes on the door sticker. WU8 is a real SS, but double check to make sure the VIN on the sticker matches the dash. You can also verify the VIN with SLP.

Quick update- Asked if he was firm on the price and if he would take $5000. He declined but he said he wasn’t firm on the $6500. Will probably take a look at it later this week. His reason for selling was because him and his Son were going to build it but his Son moved back to the mainland and it’s just taking up space in the garage.

I also asked if it was a real SS and this was his response:

“Yes sir , modified by SLP Street Legal Performance , authenticated by the SLP stickers on both doors that describe the alterations”

He also gave me his number to call him so I’m not thinking it’s a scam.

I Spend ALOT of time on Craigslist. First indication of a scam is no contact info at all besides the Craigslist email. 2nd the pictures look like generic pictures of a camaro you could probably find on google. And 3rd no one writes out features like “SLP factory 3.42 Auburn Posi” only scammers do that.

I sell and buy on CL all the time. Never put my contact info in the ad. I don’t want my phone number given out to every dbag that isn’t serious.

SS, white, manual, t-top in clean looking condition with well under 100k miles on it, for that cheap?

I bet you can remove the bolts on the bottom of it with a toothpick for that price (i.e rusted to absolute shit). Something just have to give, as that's easily a $10k+ car.

I won’t even contact a person if their info isn’t in the ad.

i don’t like robo calls and people wasting my time. Its not hard to send a email and ask for a number or ask questions. I do put in the ad to email me for my phone # though.

Scams are so easy to pick out on CL. Especially if you know what you are looking at. Number one for me is the pictures.

You can tell every picture in that ad is on the same street.

I get that. That’s why I spell out my number in the ad. I guess scammers can’t get the number if it’s spelled out or something like that. Has worked so far for me

Could be super cheap because it is in HI. Not exactly a large market and it is unlikely that anyone is going to ship it for that price.

I thought about that, but in reality being on the island would make the price higher, that's how all other sought after cars and bikes are.

The car is a 10-20 footer...fairly clean, base SS with cloth, the interior does look a bit shitty and I can tell the finish is probably a 6/10 at best....that price is right on the money..SLP LS1 cars really weren't anything special, mostly appearance package, exhaust, wheels and some suspension. The ram air was a joke too on the 98-02 cars, barely functional IMHO...They weren't even built at SLP like the LT1 4th gens.

regarding the body tab and passenger fender, that's very common and typically easy to fix if that tab hasn't been annihilated. You can usually take a block of wood and rubber mallet and smack it back in to position.

I’m with you man. I checked the kbb and I know that’s not exactly a good teller of the price but it was like $3500-$5000. I asked him about the “minor cosmetic” issues and he said there was some clear coat peeling on the rear spoiler. The cloth seats definitely suck but if it checks out in person and he takes say $5500 or so I’ll probably pull the trigger. It’s hard to beat the price for the performance you are getting.
