Unions have there pros and cons. Infact without the auto industry unions, pay would be alot less across the whole board. The reason some of the other manufacturers dont have unions is because they are paying them well enough they dont have to forum a union and if they did not they would be a chance they would unionize. Tesla in Ca starting wage was at $17 in Fremont which is well below the average pay in that field. There have been talks about employees wanting to unionize at Tesla.
Elon would never let the Union in.

Oh i agree there is no dought about that. But its just one factor that unions can help there employees.
That sounds good and all until you realize there are a whole host of other good paying jobs in industries that have no unions whatsoever.
I know what you posted is the line of thinking most union people have (that without unions, wages would crash) but there is too much evidence that simply isnt true.
Now those specific industries that do have unions may see a wage cut if they disappeared, which makes perfect sense when you consider their wages are inflated simply because of the Union. Not because that is what their work is truly worth.

So, basically, they use the threat of unionization to get wages they wouldn't be entitled to on the open job market. That's called extortion.

Most Toyota/Lexus shops are Non-Union. I would NEVER want a union in my dealership. Ever. I already get my money stolen from the government, I sure as SHIT dont need any stolen from a Union on my behalf.

A lot of folks like to use the same argument for min. wage laws too. Couldn't be further from the truth, IMO.
That is not true. As discussed earlier in the thread other manufacturers pay their employees less.
You also have to take into account the number of jobs a Union pushes a company to outsource. I love America...but can I honestly fault a business to steer towards cheaper labor?
In terms of time, how long would it take to train an new set of employees because it seems much (not all) of what is done can be learned fairly quickly IMO.

You have the grammar and spelling of someone who would think a union is a good idea. If you're working for a company that isn't paying the market rate then quit being a bitch and go work for one that is.
Same here.
No non union company has the same pay and benefits as union. Hence why people are still in them.
Im not saying Unions work for all industries. What I have seen is that when there are Unions in the same industries it has been proven to push wages up for those in the same industries.
One of the biggest cons for me with unions are that the Top notch employees tend to get held back because most promotions are Seniority based.

I agree, but I think its some what different. In the Bay Area most of the jobs that are in the labor trade are Union jobs. These types of jobs required them to go to school for 6-12 months to learn the trade. Even after that they still having schooling to learn new things in the trades. Because of the Union they get great pay and benefits. When non union trade workers come to work in the Bay Area they have to be bumped up to prevailing wages. This is one way unions help keep the wages up for even non union workers.
