Running a 460 SBF. No knock sensors and my tuner would like to add more timing since Ford Motorsports adamantly said stop at 32deg.

10:1, all forged, naturally aspirated, SEFI (Moates Qtrhorse), EDIS. He says we can safely add timing in several areas but would like a knock sensor.

I don't need something super sophisticated but it would be great if the Moates could be controlled (signaled by it).

Any brands preferred?

Thanks

you can take a stock knock sensor and mount it to the back of the head as many have done

you can use the vampire to monitor it as it would be the easiest i would think

a 460sbf would be a 351w stroker. The same basics apply as if it was still a 302. What is the full combo?

I never knew ford motorsports gave out tuning advice.

Thanks...wonder why I didnt thinknof a stock knock sensor...lol. I'll ask my tuner.

This is a one-off block by Ford Motosports for their 427 and 460 SB builds. This is not a production block.

My 418 sbf that I built 10 yrs ago based off a stock '95, 351W roller motor is different than this...quite a bit different

Damn I didn’t know you could get 460 into a small block. That’s nuts

yep block with 4.125 cylinder .030 over and 4.25 crank

4.155 * 4.155 * 4.25 * 8 * 0.785396 == 461 cubes from a 351w based sbf

Yeah...torque monster. I've built a 454 on a WP block but several 408-427's.
First engine I've ever bought. Needed it in 3 weeks for an event and it took me most of that time to put in an entirely new intake system and with the higher exh ports ... time kept sliding by.

Tuned all week till I grenaded another 9".

Yup, 4.25" stroke in a production block might look good on paper. 4.25" is common in taller aftermarket blocks-for a good reason.
They aren't mass produced or recommended for a reason- but the math works.
