Just ordered a fire TV stick, and thought it'd be a good time to get a VPN. Do any of you have any strong feelings about which one to use?

I tried NordVPN once before and I felt like it was choking my internet speeds, plus the setup seemed complex, though maybe that was just user error. I've considered ExpressVPN, and IPVanish, but never tried either.

Looking for some input.

I use Private Internet Access. Very easy to set up and use. Can't comment on speed much because my internet connection isn't very fast.

I have used torguard for about 4 years. If you buy it, use a black Friday coupon.

Would you trust a VPN that comes with your computer security solution? I have never even bother to look into it.

I use PIA at home and have been pleased. No issues with nasty letters since using it and torrenting.
I've used PIA also for a few years. In the past I would get authentication / robot issues when doing Google searches. You had to answer the quiz thing before you would get results. I know everyone is on the Duckgo bandwagon but I still use it. Lately Google has not been doing it.

I use the ExpressVPN app on my Amazon Fire TV and it works great.
Being it is hosted on the device you can easily toggle the VPN connection on and off, and you can also easily change locations.

They have a ridiculous amount of locations to choose from (3,000 remote servers in 160 locations and 94 countries).
The location feature is nice as some of the U.S. locations do not fool Netflix, and others do.
Also, checkout Netflix Brazil for the best horror movie selection.

The cost is reasonable ($8 per month if you go annual), and they have great customer support via 24 hour chat.
I also use it on the iPad for region blocked media on YouTube.

Here is a hint for everyone - Usenet!

Ok first rules about Kodi and Usenet:

Don't ever talk about Kodi!
Don't ever talk about Usenet!

;)

Usenet posters have started to obfuscate their binary posts. The beauty of this is the file names and posts are scrambled so the movie industry can't execute a take down on the files because they don't know what it is lol!

If you are familiar with Usenet you'll know that it worked great a few decades ago to get movies, music, warez etc. (Pron) but then Hollyweird became aware of them (somebody talked!). After that the only legitimate movies you could find were older movies.

Any recent movies (1-3 years) or so would be bogus files, (RAR inside RAR / ZIP), password protected or just not available for download because they were taken down.

Now that the files have been obfuscated Usenet is back in business like the 90s - 20s! And you don't need VPN. Just get a Usenet provider that provides SSL encryption. You can download whatever you want at full speed without PIA slowing you down. I have a gigabit fiber connection and saving files to a 4 TB SATA drive. The drive is the bottle neck. Files are downloaded faster that the drive can write! So the Usenet client will buffer every now and then to allow the drive to catch up. It downloads at about 30 megabytes per second. I'll have to test it on a SSD drive to see how high it will go.

I use Newsleecher with Supersearch. The obfuscated files are de-obfuscated so you can just search for an item by it's name.

Torrent works well but you have to go to a web site, deal with ads and crap. And sometimes the downloads are slow.

Usenet is for the lazy guy who just wants to open a program, search for something and download it in minutes! I've downloaded 60 GB 4k files without issue.

Client:
NewsLeecher - The Complete Usenet Package

Usenet Provider:
Usenet-News - No nonsense, just Quality Usenet - Cheap Usenet Block accounts

^^^ I buy blocks in bulk - 1 TB. That way I am not paying a monthly fee where you lose what you don't use. I might take a few years to use up the block. If you're someone that downloads 500 GB per month then you would want to consider a monthly Usenet plan like Giganews or Newsleecher above who also provide a service in addition to their client program.

So after you have your video files you just drop them on a hard drive and link the computer to your Kodi or Plex Box to stream it over your network. Or you can just connect an external drive to a Kodi box.

Some people prefer Plex. I've used it but found it required a lot of processing power from the Plex server. Kodi is just better and faster imo.

Is this still around?
This is the one where you used Outlook Express to connect to groups and download 100's of parts, and then compile them with WinRAR?
