So went out to start my mustang today. Battery was absolutely dead except that it had enough juice for the theft light to blink slowly. Turned on my head lights and found they were so dim it was just a faint orange glow. Tried starting the car. No dice. When I tried starting it the theft light went out. But the minute I put it to Off position it starts flashing agian. Battery doesn't even have the charge to crank the starter. The engine bay is absolutely silent. Except that stupid flashing light. Tried jumps starting it and also no dice. Battery couldn't hold a charge. There's a brand new redtop optima down the drain.

The light itself isn't the pats, but it does indicate the car came with a pats. It's more of a theft deterrent.

Batteries can be hit or miss. I had a motorcraft max take a dump on me in 18 months. The original lasted 6 years.

Why hasn't this "brand new redtop optima" that "couldn't hold a charge" been tested to rule out the possibility of a bad cell?

Is the car eating batteries? Is that why there's a new battery in it?

its maybe 3 weeks old. 800 cca 1000 reserve. i bought it because the old battery was bad after the car sat for well over a year. the old battery was a cheap one the old owner threw in. it worked fine until now so idk. i highly doubt its the issue

Mine since new can’t sit more than 2 weeks with out needing a jump start.

As a daily driver it’s fine but most that sit have a battery tender or just disconnect battery.

I believe it’s the factory alarm system pulling juice from battery.

My older cars can sit for years and still start

If what you say is true- that you put a new battery in the car and it suddenly went dead after the car sat for a week and you've tried to charge it but it won't hold a charge- then you need to have it tested. You need to rule that very real possibility out of the equation. It only takes a few seconds to have it tested. There's no reason to speculate about a battery.

The old battery going bad because you let the car sit for a year would be expected. A new battery going dead after a week without using it would not be. You say the car can usually sit for a week without any issue, but now it won't with this new battery, but you "doubt that's the issue". Ok...

There's either information that you're leaving out, you're having trouble following straight forward logic, you're on a bender, you're trolling, you're wholly ignorant about how cars work, or a combination of those. Whichever it is, I wish you luck.

What type of battery clamp?
Oem still

Or aftermarket.

After market will give the dirty connections issue and battery may not charge with car running.
