so I got to thinking if you get a tax credit for a vasectomy how many people would do it. One time deduction of say 5k. I think it would help population wise and give people money. Similar to a child credit. What ya think? Discuss.

I think I should get a tax break for choosing NOT to have kids. People get my tax dollars for having them.

I had to pay a $10,000 "impact fee" to the county when I built my house in 2006. This was to supposedly cover the costs of how new houses would "impact" the local school system. At the time, I had no kids, and didn't have any until eight years later. That mandatory fee has since gone away.
Instead of taxing income they need to move toward a consuption based tax. But that would have to be forced upon Washington as it would starve the leviathan known as the federal government.
It wouldn't be able to sustain itself constantly suckling off the public's teat if the "cow" went dry.
A vasectomy credit would have little to no effect as long as someone gets paid per kid, and thus it's incentivised to have more children. In turn it just creates a cycle of dependency where uncle sam is the defaco step father with deep pockets that doesn't ask questions.
I have no children, I still pay a crapload in property taxes of which a good portion go for the schools. But the state house and supreme court have been fighting about how much funding schools need, with the court always demanding more.
Show me the direct correlation between dollars spent per student and quality of education and I'll shut up.

Government will give you a tax credit for limiting their future income?
I think they should offer a HUGE payment incentive to welfare folks (and most other govt program recipients) to get sterilized. I don't mean just $10k, I mean something like $25k or even $50k - tax free. As it stands now, there are too many irresponsible people having kids, and then we end up supporting their ever-expanding families.

How about just don’t give out tax credits for anything, period. And instead reduce everyone’s damn taxes and cut government spending.

That’s not a slippery slope, that is full blown tyranny. A free society doesn’t forcibly neuter citizens simply because they don’t meet some metric of productivity.
Better, more sane solution is hold people accountable by not giving handouts for being slugs.
