Thanks for the heads up. I def will keep that in mind. Sucks I moved away from the 16s cause they had that cooler issue that made the car go into limp. Thought by 17 all the kinks would have been gone lol. The price you pay for loving nice cars.

Just by an extended Powertrain warranty if it’s not 5yr/60k.
The 350s are worth the risk IMO and as long as you’re not modding big, I’d ride out with an extended warranty (Flood Ford online used to have best real Ford ESP pricing.
Good luck with your new to you Grabber Snake!

Engine swap complete! Runs like a champ, I can’t tell they even swapped it other than the handprints on stuff in the engine bay.
Did they turn back the odometer to 0 lol. Enjoy the new engine. I just got a 2017 GB and I will need to keep an eye on it

Has anyone confirmed if these ‘19 R motors have GT500 (boost friendly) oil pump gears? Last I heard, it was a maybe.

I did want to ask that at the recent plant tour. I did confirm that the Predator GT500 has Billet OPGs, and the heads are different, they basically swap the line to do Predator engines one week and Voodoo the next. Would be great if the Billet OPGs are shared.

This would be great. I'm planning on a whipple kit and would be nice not to have to do them. How can we confirm this?

FYI the R and the regular 350 have the same motor. It is not different for the R.

For sure... I only mentioned it because I heard some people were still getting the earlier motors

I have no idea, but it would be awesome if they did. I too am looking at either a Whipple or a Hellion Sleeper kit (when it’s paid in a couple years) - probably Whipple. If I can avoid replacing OPGs that would be awesome.

I would also like to mention after reading through the paperwork, it apparently had an issue with the compression test on cyl 3 and they found oil on the back side of the valves.

I took the car out for a while today and the difference is notable with the new motor. The weird vibration I had between 1800 and 2200 is gone, the piston slap is reduced, it doesn’t sound like a sewing machine, and it’s definitely making more power.

For obvious reasons, I haven’t made a WOT pull to red line yet. I punched it in 3rd to 6k once, and it broke the tires loose. Once I break it in and get the oil changed in 1k miles, I will report back on how it feels.

Register at Amsoil for some prepaid Used Oil Analysis. Fun to track your motors health. And for the record, I’d vote Hellion or Fathouse TT.
Good luck.

I will look into the amsoil testing.

On another note; one of my troops asked what I would do if this new motor popped...

It got me wondering... if this one goes south, could I convince Ford to give me an Aluminator 52xs instead of another Voodoo?

thoughts?

good luck with that. i offered to pay for parts and labor for OPG/TS for my new voodoo and it was a hard no.

guess they didn't want the people incapable of bolting on the splitter(twice) opening up that expensive motor

Well so far, so good... I’ve got around 250 miles on the new motor, it’s definitely quieter (weird sewing machine noises are not present), it’s making more power, the oil is still spot on (and clean), no soot on the tips, and it hasn’t burned a drop.
