This line goes into some EVAP thing up inside my passenger fenderwell. I’ll get a pic of it when i get home but here’s a pic of the line I’m talking about; is circled in red

There’s a air line connected up in the fenderwell to some EVAP thing

Ahhh, now I know what you are talking about. That is the canister purge valve. That valve is controlled by the PCM and opens/closes when commanded by the PCM to control flow from the charcoal canister to the engine.

OKAY....sweet u and soap are the man. So all that crap be removed if i wanna delete the EVAP?

Yes, you can remove all of that if deleting the EVAP system. You will need to get the EVAP part of your tune turned off though so you won't have a check engine light on. Also with that turned off you won't be able to pass emissions testing if that is something that you are worried about.

So if it's turned off in my tune is that charcoal canister or purge thing even doing their jobs? I only ask because the hot water heater is in the garage and am wondering if fumes would ignite

That is a good questions that I don't know.

How the system works:

Line goes from top of tank to one end of charcoal canister carrying vapors to canister. Another line from from the other end of the canister goes to the inlet of the purge valve. Then a line connects the outlet side of the purge valve to the vacuum port on supercharger inlet. The PCM commands the purge valve open during certain condition allowing the engine to use vacuum to suck the fuel vapors from the canister into the engine to be burned. That is essentially how the system functions.

Maybe Decipha or 04sleeper can say what exactly happens when they turn off that system but I assume the PCM no longer commands the purge valve open. The charcoal inside the canister will still absorb vapors/fumes to a point though I believe.

What a sweet breakdown of how that works. Thanks again, it all makes a lot more sense now. I am very curious now if that purge valve functions with it turned off in a tune. Calling @decipha or @04sleeper

I'd imagine older cars had no evap so it's PROBABLY not an issue...

I asked my tuner Malcolm and he said he left his system on for personal reasons which is to prevent gas smell/fumes. He said no issues at all with taking it off. So, I left it on.
