If I didn't need something that I can ride 2 up I would own a vrod/night rod. Still plan on adding one to the garage down the road. One of my favorite bikes I've ridden

Nice numbers. That must be a fun bike to ride.
Too bad HD ended production on the V-rod. It was the only Harley I was ever interested in.

How does this compare to the "sport" bikes that you usually see. 600cc and 1200cc bikes in terms of power? Will never own a bike but its interesting to see how they all compare in terms of performance and how its applied due to engine design.

When it originally came out it was supposed to be the Harley of the future. Older buyers never embraced it and Harley sucked at marketing to a younger generation. As it looks right now Harley is in real trouble. I too liked the V-Rod, and you can get a used one pretty cheap now.

I bought a 05 Screaming Eagle new, it was the best lookin bike that I had ever seen. Paid 28k "got a good deal" and still have it. With only 5k miles it is probably only worth 10k. Bike still looks new and has never even been washed with water. It is a shame the market never opened up for these bikes.

I would say this is pretty similar to a 600 supersport. I think 0-100 would be an advantage to the vrod with the 600 pulling away after that. Unlike a 600 with no power down low the vrod makes pretty good torque and then a tick after 4k rpm really pulls into the horsepower powerband and takes off. It was a few years difference between me riding a 600 and me riding a vrod so I can't say all that is accurate but from what I remember thats what it felt like.

It's still a harley so not the fastest thing in the world but I loved it. The motor pulled hard and was smooth, they sound excellent with exhaust as well.

My VRod with me on(230lbs) it ran 11.70@118 stock. With the Jockey riding it next pass it went 11.00@120, with a light rider and skill they can crack 10’s easy with light mods. After I put the tune and pipe on it would probably go 11.00 with me on it, it was noticeably faster after the mods. Fun bike but SUCKED for anything over 20 miles away.
