Didn't some pre production cars also have a driver's oil separator?

Crazy price for what is essentially a can with hoses to collect oil vapors, just like my problem currently trying to find one also for my inbound ZR1.

To be clear, it does not come installed from the factory on the CFTP cars. It's in the trunk along with the splitter wickers.

I would have added that but got conflicting information. Some have reported that the CC plates need to be ordered from the parts department (just as the cover does if you ordered one) and some have reported they will be in the trunk as well.

@Tob
Have you heard any more information about the adjustable strut top mounts being part of the Handling Pkg?

Yup. While some early reports indicated they were included with the Handling package, Ford now says they are not. As was said to me by someone at Ford, the term "Handling Package" is a misnomer and it should have been called the "Aero Package (light)."

To add to this as I saw you post elsewhere as to legality, under Appendix G there is no Exemption Number necessary for CARB. So Ford or FR didn't certify the part - they didn't have to. An air-oil separator that maintains closed loop is legal. This doesn't mean you won't have to deal with ignorance along the way in explaining it however.

Look at page G-7...

Thanks for the clarification on the Handling Pkg and the link to the smog check information.

Aftermarket Parts Verification Guidelines
Gasoline and Diesel

For the purposes of a Smog Check inspection, the following parts and emission control changes are acceptable provided that all of the required emission controls are connected and functioning. When conducting a Smog Check inspection, it is not necessary to check for a CARB Executive Order for the following:
  • Oil separators and filters

I have been wondering about "the trunk stuff" ever since I read about it so I too would like to know why.

I know some of body add on like splitter's don't always meet safety regulations, so they cannot come installed on the car. Not sure about the other stuff though.

Maybe the installation at the factory of the adjustable strut bases would require an alignment at the factory. How would they know which spec you would require, street or track? If that is the case, it would be cheaper for Ford to pay the dealer for the installation.

Well that was nice of you to say.

Yeah, it's been weird having sold my previous GT500 and GT350. Thankfully, I've at least had a Foxbody to pick at though. What interests me most about the upcoming GT500 is how it was ruggedized and can't wait to get underneath for a good study. My wife's company needs a caliper stud developed as people are already asking for them. And my good friend George from MGW is eager to see what he can come up with in lieu of a manual transmission shifter. So a bump in build week and a looming/potential strike are making a long overdue car a rather painful wait.

I was reluctant to add the “handling package “ for $1500
Let’s hope it pays off......sounds like nothing more than expensive plastic that will most likely never be installed!

Unless the wickers are somehow worse than the GT350R model splitter in terms of everyday road clearance they'll be on mine. The Gurney flap will definitely be on from day one.
