Can I get some recommendations for a Cold Air intake kit for a 2012 GT500?
I would get the car tuned at AED as they are only a couple hours away and have dynoed my car once.

Thanks all

There arent a ton of options brand wise, its basically PMAS 120mm or JLT 123mm, I personally run a whipple 123mm CAI tube and MAF into my stock airbox for a cleaner look.

If you need to smog stick with a whipple kit or a ford racing/ford performance cai.

I don't know if a PMAS air intake has a CARB exemption for California but I have a brand new in the box PMAS 120mm intake FS in the marketplace if you are interested (check GT500 engine parts section for the ad).

Assuming you can even get a new one sent to you in CA, Id go with a PMAS 120mm. But just a CAI isnt worth it without the TB and off road mid pipe. None of which can get sent to you new anymore from out of state vendors.

With as strict as CA is getting, save your pennies for a Whipple 2.9 complete kit. Im surprised AED is still tuning.

I cant tell you how many times I see in the Marketplace guys from CA looking for stock intakes, blowers, cams, throttle bodies. Hell, one guy was looking for a stock M122 upper pulley.

It used to be that you just had to worry about going back to stock every 2 years for smog. Now, you got guys getting pulled over for exhaust and getting Smog Refereed for the whole car. Especially in Bay Area? You'd probably get ratted on through the anonymous hotline CARB has set up.

Best of luck but if Im you I get get the Whipple kit, make 700hp being CA smog legal and be done with it.

Why are you surprised AED is still tuning?

There is a reason that the big tuning companies no longer offer services to California residents. It is easier to drop services to CA than it is to continue tuning remotely and potentially be sued in federal court for violating CA CARB laws. If you dont think CA would be successful, just take one look at how it handles firearms and accessories that are CA illegal, yet 45 state LEGAL.

Technically, in the wonderful communist utopia of California, it is illegal to run any tune in your car that is not factory or CARB certified. It is illegal to use any non CARB certified parts. Unless AED has CARB certification, then its very risky for them to tune cars in CA.

I wish them all the best, I have heard that they offer good tuning services.

AED is still tuning and are the best in California. AED can provide you with a street tune that is smog friendly and a race tune for the the track if you would like. Also i would recommend calling or emailing AED to ask specifically what CAI and throttle body they like tuning for.

Thanks me32 for the positive message. I have used AED once and plan on using them exclusively in the future. I'm thinking at this point, I am just going to go with the VMP stock look 2.5 SC pulley and have Shaun do a re-tune. I switched to a Synthamax non oiled reusable instead of the K&N oiled and really like it. I've only been a forum member since February and have received a lot of support and great advice.
Thanks!!

You are welcome. What are all the current mods that you have on your car?

If you are on the stock blower, you should be fine with the factory CAI intake with your filter with just a smaller a pulley.
