I have a 2008 GT500 'Vert with 19" CCWs and my KDW's need replacing. Being that those aren't available any longer in 19"....any recommendations on good summer/perf. tires? My current sizes are 275/35ZR19 and 295/35ZR19. I'm guessing Nitto is popular, maybe Pirelli?

I'm also wondering if the 19" was a bad idea and I should bite the bullet and switch to 20" wheels/tires.

Suggestions welcome!
Thanks,
DoubleX

I've switched to Michelin's Sport Cup 2s and so far, I like them. It's a decent all around tire and checks all the boxes in the characteristics I wanted.

I have heard great things about those Michelins mentioned above, I have had NT555G2 and they work well but wet performance is not good after half tread life, at quarter tread life, I go 60-65 in rain tops. I've ridden in a 2009 GT500 with R888s and those tires are pretty impressive compared to my Nittos. The pricing is what keeps me from buying my own set though.

Thanks for the recommendations! I checked out Toyo and only the Proxes Sport come in the right size. Michelin's are available in the Pilot Super Sport, and Pilot Sport Cup 2. Would 20" wheels have more options that fit? Not that I want to thrift the CCWs but I didn't realize tire choices would diminish...

Can't say enough good stuff about the Continental Extreme Contact Sports. Had them on both cars and loved them. The focus got a bit wrecked and had Michelin pilot sport 4 put on as replacement as the shop couldn't get the continentals. Not even a fair comparison. The continentals are far superior in all driving conditions over the pilot sport 4. Also the price is good and they come in 19".

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I picked up a set of 20" Alcoas, so what sizes are people running without widening? To keep the same diameter as stock (or close) would be 255/35 and 295/30...but wanted to see what everyone else is running. I think the Super Snakes came with 255 and 275s right?

I'm leaning towards the Continental ECS, but what about Pirelli P-Zero (as came on the SS)?

Yes on the 255/275 and Pirelli P Zero's.

If I were doing a 9"/10" Alcoa combination, I would consider the 275/295 Nitto Invo set up shown below............

^^^^Sorry these are the best pictures I have and you will have to ask others about the Nitto Invo performance, but those sizes of those specific tires seem to fit the 9"/10" Alcoa combination well without sticking out.

Agreed. 295 rear, 275 front. With the conservative 295 rear, most likely any brand of 295 would fit vs 305.
And the 275 feels planted on the front.

I also have pictures of a 305/35 Pirelli P Zero on a Super Snake rear with it's original 10" Alcoa, it is getting to the point where the tire looks "pinched" at the bead area, that is because 11" was the recommended/optimal rim width for that tire. That 305 also sticks out past the fender lip.

Being 20", would these be 275/30 and 295/30? The 295/30 rear is pretty much the same diameter as the stock rears were. If 35s, would the diameter increase cause any issues? I am running the full FRPP Handling Pack.
