So i picked up my first cobra back in march of this year. Its been a childhood dream car (something that i could afford) since they came out. The one i picked up is an 03 with a KB-MM 2.8 and all the supporting mods. This was the first car i bought that it has been modified by someone else already and not by me. At the time it didn't brother me since i mod cars all the time and i figured that id be saving money since doing it to a stock cobra would cost some $$$.

I am not sure if its because that its pretty much done that i never really fell in love with the car like i thought i would. I feel like that its still someone else car and that i had nothing to do with it. I think that this will be the last car i buy that has been heavy modified.

Make it your own by changing/adding things. A different blower, fuel and exhaust system for starters. Throw on some big brakes and new rims. There is a ton of stuff available for these cars.

I agree. Start with some "smaller" mods and then see how you feel. My last car I bought bone stock. Spent too much money and down time modifying it how I wanted. This time I bought one modified and I'm doing little things until I can justify a bigger change. My wallet and wife are happier this way. If you have unlimited time and money, buying near stock and doing everything under your ownership is great, but if either of those things is limited, it's nice to buy already modified and just do a little at a time from there to personalize it.

Kinda did the same thing with my car. It was pretty well modified already when I bought it. Had a whipple, aluminator, full exhaust...damn near the whole nine lol. Although I never had the feeling that it wasn't mine or whatever, over the last 9 years I've changed and have been through like 90% of the car anyways. Changed to a different blower, changed the long tubes, went return fuel, FTBR goodies, ect. Mainly changed those things out to make it my own and put the parts on it I preferred. I love the car because it has everything I've wanted on a cobra, and all the work is by myself.

I say enjoy the fact you have some big ticket items out of the way and enjoy the power. Make changes to the car over time and slowly make it your own!

I get where you're coming from. My 01 felt like mine because the only thing I hadn't touched was the interior and paint. I didn't feel like the 04 was really mine at first since I didn't do many mods to it. Once I started doing the suspension and little things here and there it finally felt like it was mine. With the blower swap I feel like it finally has my stamp on it. Or will when it's done.

if its not the end result your seeking then you purchased the wrong vehicle.

best bet is to sell it to someone who will appreciate it and buy an 15+ coyote and boost it

Where in Florida, I’m in Gainesville and have seen only 1 other here. Unfortunately haven’t been able to catch up with him since I’ve been headed somewhere.

If it makes you happy I will trade you some of my stock parts for your aftermarket parts. You can build it back to a more stock-ish form. Then start from scratch and make it your own. PM me. :)

I was thinking the same thing!! Trade you my stock eaton...then in a year or so you can re-upgrade your blower and the bump will make you happy all over again!

I struggled with buying a modified vs stock because I'm a cheapo and thought I could get more of a bang for my buck by buying a modified car...wound up buying one with just intake/exhaust and will slowing add a few things. Agree with the other though, there is soooo much to do to these cars, just start doing a few things to make it your own.

Thanks! I’ll definitely look them up. I got my 03 in Jax a little over a month ago.

The good news is you have parts to sell to help fund new parts that you want. The mod list for these cars is endless. You can definitely find something to do or change, hell I'm on my 4th blower and I started with a whipple.

One of the First things I did was some pieces from carbon driven for the interior( I broke the radio bezel when we put in a rear view camera). Beautiful and unique, as not many touch the inside unless it’s painted. I will do big brakes(14” Baer 6p), and some weld wheels and suspension goodies

OP...I completely understand the "dream car" aspect of your post. When I was 17, a sonic blue '03 coupe with a KB and chrome AFS 18's was the cat's pajamas in my world. Not a Lamborghini, not a Ferrari, a $35k Mustang. Of course I had to settle for a '96 GT, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere. Fast forward to today. Another 17 years older and I still like the car for a lot of the same reasons, but there's one more that I think could be the piece you're missing so far. The camaraderie among 03-04 owners is awesome. Around here, I almost never see another Terminator and I absolutely love that factor. When I see another one, I'm like a giddy child on Christmas morning. lol When some random guy at the gas station steps out from around his modern day minivan with stick figures and soccer balls stuck to the windows and says "Gorgeous Teminator, man", it's probably the best compliment I can imagine. Are 03/4's the baddest cars out there by today's standards? Absolutely not. But that's not the point. They've got an important place in automotive history, though, and that's more that can be said for the vast majority of cars out there. So while you may not have been the one to build her up to where she is now, you should still feel a sense of pride that you own something that's, in a way, special and symbolic. After all, they don't write books about just any car.
