Does anyone know of a company or maybe themselves make an adapter to run the Kenne Bell 168 Mono on a standard pattern GT500 inlet? Will be looking at a VMP Gen 2R if they go on sale or a Trinity TVS for a fun and fast weekend car. I know the Trinity has the XBA available, but I havent found anything for standard pattern inlets.

Plans to turn my Scarlett into a built monster running a Whipple have been put on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Good reasons came up and I cant put built motor/huge blower cash into my car for a few years.

Any help is appreciated!

I don't believe anyone makes an adapter to run the KB168 on the VMP Gen2R, but I may be mistaken, I know they make it for the Gen3. But if you plan on doing a 2.3 TVS, why not do the XBA setup with a ported Trinity TVS? Or just do the Gen3, I love mine.

Well, if you go Trinity, I have a Trinity w/2.4, XBA elbow and 168 KB, the whole shebang :)
Do you already have a 168? If not, go Whipple 170 as it worked great with my ported 2R and it comes with an adapter. The TB will bolt up but the blade is so big you either use the Whipple supplied spacer or port match the case to match (not much leave much material but seals up fine).
If you have the 168, I’d personally call PBTH or BPS and ask if they’d sell the KB flange they Weld onto the elbow and drill the stock pattern into it.
Where there’s a wiil there’s a way :)

Soooo funny story, I have the Whipple Oval Monoblade (not the eliptical) already and I recently bought a KB 168 Mono that needs a rebuild. Needs to be sent out still, but I had a... crafty idea going for my build.

The plan was either a big boy build with rods, pistons and a Gen 3R or a Whipple of some sort. Cant disclose the change just yet, but funds required for big boy build are needed elsewhere for a while. All good things, but big money spending on the Shelby is currently off the table.

A Trinity TVS, VMP Gen 2 or 2R, BAP and Pump Booster setup is something I can budget for.

@2011 gtcs That Gen3R was looking more appealing by the day. Especially when I realized how much a PITA a Whipple 4.0L was going to be to fit under the stock hood. The new rumored Whipple Gen5 3.0L was starting to intrigue me too.

I'm sure the Gen5 3.0L whipple will be nasty, but not cheap, you can get a Gen3 TVS for a good price now.

Did Willie give the 168 a try, or you just sending it in for the rebuild?

The KB mono pulls so much air it will likely give you even more improvement with an O-sized plenum...like the XBA. If you already have a BPS O-sized and can bolt pattern match it to the KB great. I sold my BPS plenum with my VMP Twin when I converted over the KB Mono. As mentioned, XBA can be purchased thru PBH.

Or "Willie"... lol...

Never saw it..... Ed?

Hi guys. No havent had a chance to play with the Shelby. Cooling fan died on her while heading out of town a few weekends ago. Just got done dealing with that and some other things have come up!

Ill probably end up sending it (168) in for a rebuild, just to make sure its reset back to square 1.

I think a Trinity TVS/XBA inlet might be the ticket for me. Cheap and just as good as the Gen2R I think. I need to get my car through emissions this fall but Ill be installing my headers this winter (FINALLY). Then maybe make a move on a TVS this spring.

I certainly appreciate all the replies gentlemen!

@Willie I havent forgotten about ya! Need to come down for a visit when i have a free weekend!

the problem is that its a kenne bell manifold to kenne bell throttle body but I need the adapter since 5.0 doesn't line up with the 168mm without it and I purchased it 2nd hand and guy refused to send the adapter because he still needs it

You’ll need to clarify this better.
It’s a KB Blower and a KB168 TB?
Have you called KB.

yes its the 2.8 mammoth blower from kenne bell and the 168mm throttle body from kenne bell. the 5.0 uses an adapter for the 168mm throttle body to the mammoth manifold.

An adapter that KB makes right?
If they do, just buy it, what’s the issue?

Call a KB dealer?
Or any competent fabricator or machinists can EASILY make one.
You might just be at the mercy of waiting on KB.
