Here’s the upcoming Ford Mach E prototype undergoing testing. Previous sightings of Ford’s EV showed the vehicle in mule form, wearing the body of a last-gen Ford Escape. These are the first shots of the prototype wearing production-intent body work.

All that heavy camo appears to be hiding a fastback-like body, and the vehicle is rumored to be “Mustang-inspired.” The overall size seems to be around that of the all-new Ford Escape, with car-like compact dimensions.

The Mach E is expected to start around $40,000 and “will go like hell,” according to Bill Ford.

At least they aren't still calling a Mach 1 like they wanted to but this thing still seems like an abortion. Just let it be a quick crossover ev whatever type deal instead of dragging Mustang into this.

omg, it already looks horrific. Another ugly small cross over thing on the road.

If global warming is going to kill us and pollution is the issue, why don't manufacturers make e85 capability across all cars and get it to more locations in the US? The coasts barely have any stations. It gets worse mpg, but significantly better emissions correct?

Or if not e85, how about other fuels. For example I read about the Gdiesel in Vegas that is mixed with natural gas. It is supposed to burn so much cleaner and will not need DPFs etc in cases. I think the government is scamming us again.

Yup...that black tent on the back filled with Styrofoam packing peanuts is definitely hiding a fastback shape. With the high wheel arches and that rear shape this thing is going to look exactly like a Lamborghini Urus with a mustang front grill.

Wait a minute. That doesn't sound bad after all...

Call it the Ford 500 or Galaxy or whatever. 'Mustang Inspired' has so much potential for disaster.

Then again, modern Ford's all kinda of have the same grill characteristics anymore so who knows? I'm not buying it no matter what it looks like.

Hmmm a good E vehicle is not a bad thing. One looking Mustang-es is also not a bad thing. One that run wit a Tesla in it's mode is def a good thing. With all the charging ports up here in S. FL, I would be in for one.

A couple points of observation.
1. I will take bets Ford sells 5 of these for every Mustang sold.
2. I'll also bet the take rate on these are 75% female, 20% Beta males, 5% old guys trying to be cool (Think PT Cruiser)
3. Ford does not GAF about what you think or the Mustang in general. If they could get away with it they would end production immediately.

Maybe they should name it the Mustang III GLH, and have a sportier version and call it the the Shelby GLH-S.

The fact Bill Ford commented that it will "go like hell" scares me into thinking these morons will add the Shelby name to it or some moniker of Shelby-ism. I hope not. Call it the Ford E-Pace at this point and dont drag anything into the mud.

It’s another exec you need to worry about.
