Cutting the cord then turning around and spending $50 on a service defeats the purpose of cutting the cord in the first place.
Umm, not really true, at least in part. Cutting the cord means breaking the fixed tie (and high monthly cost) with traditional cable/satellite services. Including fixed contracts. It really means eliminating contracts and paying a much smaller monthly cost to get "most" of the same channels you get with cable and satellite. I dropped DirecTV because I was tired of 2-year contracts (and their restrictions) and ever increasing monthly costs. I was paying around $225.00 a month with DirecTV. I pay $50.00 a month for Hulu + Live TV. Amazon Prime Video doesn't cost me anything because my employee pays for it. That's a huge savings per month. And no contracts!! All in HD. I don't get AMC (yet) but that's not an issue for me. If you mean paying $0.00 per month (or near zero monthly cost), there are threads here that have discussed how to do it, if you can live with the restrictions.

I only have fios gigabit. Dumped cable over a year ago.

I repurposed a desktop computer to be a plex server. I added a TV tuner card and a big antenna in my attic. I get a bunch of channels. I stream any channel to any TV in my house with a fireTV. Plex has a nice guide and DVR capabilities.

PlaystationVue has both AMC and the BTN in their core package if you wanted to look at that. I've never used YouTubeTV so I don't know how it compares.

I guess that by the name of it I thought you could only stream through a Playstation console. Am I dumb?

Just download the app to your favorite streaming device (fireTV, Roku, smart tv) and login. Has a guide, DVR and on demand. Can be watched from mobil devices as well. They usually do seven day free trials if you want to check it out. I've been using it for a couple of years now and we like it.

I think that is their biggest problem, the name. If you are dumb then I am dumb with you because I thought the same. No, you do not need a PlayStation for PlayStation Vue. You can watch about everywhere including sacrilegiously, the XBOX.

They are a little high. Definitely need to change their name.

I cut the cord 5 years ago and have used slingtv every so often but not for long because I literally torrent everything or watch things live and tell people... NOPE.... the game is on and I don't want to be bothered.

I just got charged $126.14 for Amazon Prime. Lucky you!

I cancelled ATT Uverse last week. We were paying close to $160 per month for U300 which included Starz and Showtime. Overall we loved the service but not too crazy about the cost. The service runs out end of the month.

I already signed up a trial for Hulu and bought a second Nvidia Shield for the bedroom. I went all out with Hulu: Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and 200 hours of Cloud DVR. All for around $105 per month. And I can stream to 3 devices simultaneously. For another $4 per month we can get unlimited streaming.

I setup Hulu on my mom's iPhone and she can stream anything from Hulu to her TV in a different house via Chromecast. Going to do the same for my father-in law. I spoke with Hulu and they told me this will be allowed. But I can't setup Hulu on her Samsung TV. They monitor IP addresses and give you 5 times to change the WAN IP. After that the service gets locked down for only one location since the service agreement is for a single household. But casting from a mobile device at a hotel or friend's house will be allowed. Interesting that Netflix does not have this restriction. My mom has access to my Netflix account at her home directly on her Samsung TV downstairs and Roku upstairs.

So far I am liking Hulu. I did a trial of Fubo but did not like it as much and cancelled it. It beat Hulu on a few features (more DVR hours) but lost out on a few others (less premium channel options, inferior interface imo.).

One issue with Hulu has been that it crashed to the home screen of the Nvidia Shield while I was watching a movie. I had to reload Hulu then to get back into the movie. I'll talk to their tech team to figure out what can be done to prevent that from happening.

I linked the Nvidia Shield as a skill in my Alexa App on my iphone. And now I can pause and play movies or turn the Shield on and off by speaking to the Echo Spot in the bedroom. Our Ecobee Thermostat (which has Alexa built-in) is also linked to the Echo Spot. So I can tell the Echo spot to raise or lower the temps and it is done immediately on the Ecobee! I could pause and play movies by asking Alexa on the Ecobee Thermostat to do so. Amazing little devices that Amazon made available.

What restrictions would those be?
Here's the biggest one. You probably already know this one. If you make any change in your equipment (ie. upgrading for more DVR storage capacity), your contract is automatically extended, locking you in for another two years. And you'll pay an Early Terminator Fee if you cancel your service in those 2 years. DirecTV wanted to replace my box to resolve an issue BUT the paperwork stated that the customer requested the equipment change. o_O They wanted to extend my contract by 2 years. The repair rep told me this. I called DirecTV and said, NO! I don't want the replacement box if you're extending my contract. Ridiculous! My current contract had just ended. A week later I called and cancelled my service. I have a more reliable setup now and I'm paying about 80% less than I was with DirecTV. The only way to avoid this "extension of contract" is to ensure the equipment change is stated as being requested by DirecTV.

Are you currently using cable/satellite?

I think you misunderstood me. I cut cable decades ago. I was asking what the downside is of not paying for Youtube TV is. Ditching one $100+ bill for another is absurd.

I'm paying $35 a month for ATTVnow(direct tvnow) with HBO included. It has all my locals except ABC. Guess which channel LSU plays on tomorrow? ABC! So, I'll head to Outback and watch it at the bar. We also have Amazon Prime, so roughly $46 a month, plus the internet connection of $50.

I've been using Hulu Live for about 6 months and like it. They just updated their Channel Guide and it's SO much better than it was. The Guide was my major complaint with Hulu before they updated it. Before, you couldn't go forward more than 2 days. Now I think it's 2 weeks.

I looked at YouTube TV briefly but haven't pulled the trigger on it. I don't honestly see my need for it. Hulu and Amazon Prime Video is all I've needed.

When did you update? I have Hulu live and overall I'm not overly impressed. We watch some shows from back in the day and when we "upgraded" we started getting commercials in those shows. These aren't DVR'd shows either. These are shows from the 90's and early 2000's. And I checked the guide the other day and it only gives me what's currently on and the next show.

I hate the Hulu Live Guide. I check an online guide just to see what is on. Hulu Live is pretty strong though and a very good option for most.

LOL! Yeah, it's a significant savings per year. Remember when Prime was $50 a year?

Are you using the new Hulu programming Guide? I installed it last week. Hulu had been working on improving their Guide (the weak link) and this is a nice positive step forward IMO. The new Guide has a better structure and you can now go forward 2 weeks I believe. Superior to the old Guide which had a max of 2 days going forward. That made it frustrating to record future shows. Setting Recording a show is quicker and easier, too.

I don't know if you haven't been paying attention, or you're just being obstinate on purpose. It's not switching one bill for another of the same amount. Maybe the reduction in price isn't significant enough to justify it in YOUR eyes. But not everyone agrees with that assessment.

I might have to give youtubeTV a look. We have Netflix and had slingtv for a while. We really dont watch a ton of tv though, so we weren't getting much value. We paid like 45 a month with sling if I recall correctly.

I just asked a question. There is no need for insults.
